Main Audiogon site barely works?
Has anyone else noticed over the past couple of days that the main Audiogon sales site seems to be on life support? It takes at least 20-30 seconds to load, and any changes in listing etc may or may not happen before the website times out. This didn't seem to be the case on Thursday but since yesterday the site has been barely useable. I'm wondering if it's just me or if there's a real server issue?

The migration of the site was amateur at best. The site slowing to nearly unusable, then going completely offline for some users while others were able to post new listings. I checked http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com several times and it was offline, then back and off again. I contacted Tammy and she told me that the site was offline, but it wasn’t. This went on for a couple of days. I purchased an amp from someone but then couldn’t complete the payment as the site repeatedly crashed. The seller contacted me and asked me to pay them directly. I didn’t and was frustrated that the seller might re-list the amp. 3 days later I was finally able to complete my purchase. A professional developer would have given users advance notice and then taken the site offline while posting a landing page that stated it was offline for migration/upgrade. While I did start seeing such a page it was only after the site was crippled for several days. Very disappointing. So are there plans to update these archaic forums ? A vBulletin license is pretty reasonable. I built vB forums many years ago and they’re great for both the user and the administrators. |
