Speakers to hang on to for LIFE

After 9 years with my Proac Response 3s, I recently decided to change speakers. As you can tell, I'm not an upgrade fever patient. I want something I can live with for years & I think the best advice I'm gonna get will be from those who have & are still living with their speakers for an extended period of time. Please tell me why too. Thanks.Bob.

"For life" is a heavy proposition. Currently I very much enjoy Audiokinesis Dream Makers (v2) and LCS effect speakers. They combine an electrostat-like presence with the push of dynamic speakers. Formerly I had Dynaudio Consequence mk2 but never really became friends with them. They needed even more power than my Krell FPB600 could give. The Audiokinesis system is well matched to my Atma-sphere Ma-1 OTL monoblocs, and the matching is very important. There are troubles with an all-tube system (noise, maintenance etc) but I don't think I will go back to "hifi" speakers and s-state amps.
double dip,I posted here around 5 years ago and must confess i'm moving my KEF 105/3's to another room after 25 years and enjoying a vintage pair of 107/2's I bought here for less than the cost of a pair of quality book shelves.
Steve, how cool is that? 5 years and counting. Lot's of innovation in speakers.

I've heard some speakers recently but using totally different source and amps. I was in shock as to HOW different many have sounded. Some I didn't like overtime, however there are a few that always sounded excellent. I don't want to sound like a commercial for Vandy's or Focal Utopia or Sonus (the older ones), so I won't, lol...

Have any of you guys done this? I assume you've done it with your own speakers. Would love to hear the differences.
