Your opinions on the Polk R700 speakers

My current speakers are Thiel CS2.4 but finally one of the 8in. woofer gave out.  I am shopping for a new pair of speakers.  I'd rather not spend a lot of money and I am trying to find a pair at affordable price but have relative good review.

The Polk R700 seems to have a lot of good review.  My main concern is the tweeter.  Some reviews said it's a little too bright, but some other reviews said it is about right.

So if you could post what your opinions if you have heard them.

I think soix is on the right track , I'd get them reconditioned.

I listened to a pair at home.  The bass was excellent.  The tweeter was not great.  It wasn’t bright to me.  I’d say it was flat and not as good as soft dome tweeters I’ve heard. I didn’t keep them.

Could you elaborate what is it about the tweeter that you did not like?
