Wyred 4 Sound Driver Issue

I installed the driver on my Windows 10 machine and used my W4S uDAC-HD for a few months. It sat inactive for another few months, and when I plugged it back in, the unit was not functional.

I went to the device manager and the drivers were correctly installed in both "Audio Inputs and Outputs" as well as "Sound, Video and Game Controllers". What was new was under "Other Devices" was Wyred 4 Sound DFU, which said the driver was not found (there is no driver).

Windows Troubleshooting can't help, and W4S has no clue what DFU is either. Searching DFU on any search engines gets you information about an iPhone mode.

Thanks for any help.

This Wyred 4 Sound DAC is a current product sold in 2024, and the newest driver is for Win 8...?

DFU stands for device firmware update

The DAC should be physically disconnected from the computer while the driver is being installed

Should have said, unless you are prompted otherwise the DAC should be physically disconnected from the computer

I talked to W4S, and the tech told me roughly the same thing. The tech will talk to someone else in the company to see if they can update the firmware.

Based on everything that has been revealed, my problem is moot until W4S updates the firmware.

Thank you very much for all of your help.

Can you send me a private message and fill me in on what happened in the thread about Schitt Audio leaving California?  It looks like there were several comments, but I found it too late and it's been deleted.  I'm certain someone leaked the Nuclear Codes, a list of all U.S. spies around the world, the actual voting data from 2020, or some other info related to National Security.  I mean, why else would the Audiogon Overlords need to protect us??

I don't have a "Way Back Machine", so I can't retrieve the thread before it was zapped.  I'd appreciate any input.  Peace out!
