Wyred 4 Sound Driver Issue

I installed the driver on my Windows 10 machine and used my W4S uDAC-HD for a few months. It sat inactive for another few months, and when I plugged it back in, the unit was not functional.

I went to the device manager and the drivers were correctly installed in both "Audio Inputs and Outputs" as well as "Sound, Video and Game Controllers". What was new was under "Other Devices" was Wyred 4 Sound DFU, which said the driver was not found (there is no driver).

Windows Troubleshooting can't help, and W4S has no clue what DFU is either. Searching DFU on any search engines gets you information about an iPhone mode.

Thanks for any help.

There is no driver option for Windows 10 or 11. 7/8 is the latest available. The driver was working before, and now it is not. I did try my PUC-2 D/D --> DAC, and that driver still works fine.

I'm still confused as can be about what DFU is, and why Windows is now insisting on having it as a functional driver.

DFU allows the firmware to be updated over usb. It has nothing to do with the playback. Here is what I found online:

Windows has been a huge hassle when you want to flash the firmware of various devices over USB.

The term "dfu" means Device Firmware Update and dfu-util is the Device Firmware Update Utility,

This Wyred 4 Sound DAC is a current product sold in 2024, and the newest driver is for Win 8...?

DFU stands for device firmware update

The DAC should be physically disconnected from the computer while the driver is being installed
