I have the McIntosh C50 preamp with phono and it's decent but i just bought the PS Audio Stellar phono stage and received an immediate upgrade in sound.
Will this sensitivity for a MC input on an amp be enough for my cartridge?
I am considering buying the new McIntosh MA12000 integrated amp to replace my Audio Research PH6 and Pass Labs INT-150. McIntosh does not show the MC input gain, but only shows a .3mv "sensitivity". My phono cartridge is a Koetsu Rosewood Signature with an output of .4mv. My present set up is just adequate for volume. My question is, would the MA12000 be able to match or better the gain of my current setup? Thanks.

You will be fine as far as volume goes. But in all other respects you will probably be very disappointed in the sound. Its just very hard to believe the built in phono stage will be anywhere near PH6 level. OMG just had a look at that monstrosity. Scratch "probably" you WILL be disappointed! That thing even has a DAC in it! Noise is death to phono stages. Sorry. For less money you could get this use the PH6 and walk all over that Mac https://www.ravenaudio.com/product/reflection-mk2/ |
