Will be selling two 45 rpm Blue Note Jazz collections. Need advice..

Hi everyone,

And sorry if in advance if this is the wrong place for this discussion.

I’ve been out of the LP collecting game for over 15 years and have reached the time in my life when stuff has to go..   I have 2 collections of Blue Note Jazz reissues.  112 from the Music Matters collection (#0405), and 50 from the Analogue Productions catalogue, (0446) .

98 of the MM collection are still sealed. 36 of the AP collection are still sealed.

Of the 14 unsealed in the MM collection, 9 of the albums have gatefold damage. The 14 unsealed in the AP collection are mint.

Can someone point me in the right direction towards researching value?  I am older now, and well out of the audio loop. I looked at discogs and ebay but have no desire or intention to sell individually..

Thanks in advance

@tmw57   My suggestion would be to post them for sale as a package on Audio Mart.  It's free and will get you good exposure.  Prepare to take a substantial loss.  It has been my experience that the market is shallow and everyone is looking to pay 10 cents on the dollar.  You could also canvas any local record stores and see if they are interested in buying the lot.  It sounds like you have some great LPs, and it's unfortunate that the resale value is likely to be low.  Only my opinion and for your sake, I hope I am proven wrong.  Best of luck with the endeavor.  Cheers.

Well kept collections are quite valuable these days. I recently sold most of my jazz collection which included 96 MMJs to a local retailer for over 5 figures with hardly any negotiation at all.

In your case though, I would contact Chad Kassem at Acoustic Sounds in Selina Kansas. If what you have is legit, he might be interested.

I would not rush, looks there is a market for entire collections....random search showed me this add

On discogs individual records are on sale from 60usd up to 300usd a piece, so I would not dismiss that option either. Best of luck.

Thanks so much for the above. That ad is quite helpful!

I contacted Acoustic Sounds yesterday to confirm that I had the compete (50 LP's) collection. And the price you got for your 96 MM's is along the lines of what I am thinking..

My local used record store pays about $.44 on a dollar resale value. I would think a collection like yours would bring more.

good luck
