Wiim pro questions.

Hello. I want to connect a simple streamer to my router via ethernet, and also digitally to my RME ADI DAC. I will be using Qobuz .Will the Wiim pro do this? I'm not interested in wireless connections or the onboard dac, Also is there a cheaper option to accomplish this as I have a dac?

Thanks all. And yes I did go for the pro plus in case I ever want to use it stand alone. It arrives today so I'll likely be back with more questions.

Yes, it will work. Think about possibly springing for the Pro Plus instead, in case you ever want to use the DAC section, for example in a traveling system.

I have a Wiim Pro and it was one of the easiest to setup streaming devices I've seen. I bought it for my wife as she finds my LMS streaming setup a bit too complicated.  We primarily use the Wiim Pro for Qobuz.

A couple of notes -- setup involves installing the Wiim app on your Android or iPhone which then communicates directly with the Pro and allows you to configure things. I think this defaults to Wifi first, which is why that step is necessary. Also, note that the Pro only outputs to an external DAC via coax or optical. There is no USB output. (It will also do Airplay and Bluetooth, but it doesn't sound like those are of interest to you.)

I had to have wi-fi turned on on my router in order to set up the Wiim initially, despite what the manual states.

yes--connect your router to the  ethernet port on the wiim and the wiim to your dac via the optical or coaxial digital out on the wiim. i don't know any cheaper devices with these features.
