Actually, the same price since I got it from Japan. But what I said was out of the box it sounds similar to the fully broken unit and it’s on a pair of speakers that probably won’t benefit from that amp. However, I do believe my Thiels will exploit the difference, or always let’s hope;)
Why have one if you can have two?
In an effort to reduce equipment in the new house I’m building, and reduce clutter, I purchased the Luxman 505uxII for my Klipsch Fortr IVs. Turned out to be a marvelous pairing. The music is just alive, dimensional, and effortless.
The thing is, I like the Luxman so much I figured I wanted to pair it with the Thiel CS2.4’s I have. But the current requirements for those speakers require a bit more umph! So now I also have the 507z. Currently my Thiels are boxed up ready for the move in about two weeks or so, but I’m breaking in the Z on the Forte’s in the mean time.
I noticed it took a couple weeks for the 505 to really shine so I’m expecting the same on the 507! But right out the box it equals the 505. Not a huge difference between the 505 and 507 yet, but I also suspect that the Fortes have generally plateaued on amplification. The 507 is a bit smoother, if not just noticeably so, and there seems a just a bit more spaciousness as well. Again, right out of the box.
I will be intrigued to see how this amp breaks in, and how much further the envelope of sound can be increased from the already capable 505.
