Why a high end streamer with a high end dac?

I own a Modwright Transporter. It is great, but I know I will need to replace it at some point given that LT no longer supports the product.

So, I have been looking at alternate streamers and dacs. Given that virtually all new high end dacs have super sophisticated word clocks to reduce or eliminate jitter, I am confused as to why a fancy streamer with a high end clock is necessary? For example, the Auralic line looks very nice. If I am buying a nice dac with a good clock, why would I need an Aries over a mini? What am I missing?
