Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

slaw,

Is the Beatles you found on yellow vinyl???
Nope, I think that's a different one, or maybe just an alternate version of the same recording.
3rd installment......

(4) Kansas  "How My Soul Cries Out For You"

frankly I could go on forever with Kansas...I will do much better, maybe?

Another short intermission, be right back......
reubent,

You literally caught me in the cleaning process.

Give me a few minutes..  You'll be inspired. I hope..

reubent,

Your post has inspired me to do even better?

BTW:, Radio Paradise was my first introduction to Porcupine Tree!

Can you believe it?!

3rd installment, coming up/....
reubent ,

mid to late 80’s ... Charlotte, NC

Is the Beatles you found on yellow vinyl???
I heard something on Radio Paradise yesterday that blew my mind. Had to go to the record store and pick it up today. Just home and played it and LOVE IT!

The Beatles - Yellow Submarine - 1999 REMIX - Songtrack LP. The remixed long version of "It's All Too Much" is absolutely killer, IMHO. I know it might be blasphemy for true Beatles aficionados, but I really like this remixed compilation LP. The sound quality is outstanding and it sounds almost contemporary verses the originals.

I'm diggin' it. And you say?
slaw,

You're on a roll. Keep it up.....

I like your Bruce Cockburn pick. Check this out: I've got tickets to see Bruce Cockburn in June at The Fur Peace Ranch. If you've never heard of it, check it out on line. Interesting place for music lovers, to say the least. The concert hall seats 200 people. Up close and personal. Just the way I like it.....
2nd installment:..

(4) Pearl Jam  "Garden" (hell yeah/my personal feeling)
(5) Ozark Mountain Daredevils "River to the Sun"
(6) Spoon "Make Me a Target"
(7) Bruce Cockburn "If I Had a Rocket Launcher"

this is the 2nd installment.... better things to come...

an intermission?.........

slaw,

Last time I saw Rush, Blue Oyster Cult opened.
That would have been cool. Any idea when? I've seen RUSH many times since 1977, And I've seen BOC back in their heyday. Both put on MONSTER shows, IMHO.

Ok, I'm going to look at this going forward as a "mix tape" I'd happily provide for anyone here......maybe a DJ inspired set????

My intent is it to have a flow....

(1) Death Cab For Cutie  "You Can Do Better Than Me"
                                         "Grapevine"
                                         "Your New Twin Sized Bed"
                                         "Long"
(2) Grace Potter& The Nocturnals  "Oasis"
(3) Arctic Monkeys "Do I Wanna Know"

this is the 1st installment... better things to come....
To keep everything flowing...

Jon Butcher Axis?...

I own 3 lps. Seems very late 80's- 90's?
reubent,

Very COOL!

Last time I saw Rush,  Blue Oyster Cult opened.

The music is the master.
slaw,

I love "Crash and Burn". I saw, and met, Pat Travers Band back in the day when they opened for RUSH. Good times. "Their version of "Boom, Boom, Out Go The Lights" live is outstanding.

I guess, I'm un-officially the "weekend man"... A role I'll gladly accept!

For some reason, I felt the need to play some Pat Travers Band. Unfortunately, I've misfiled the lp I wanted to listen to.. "Crash & Burn". Hopefully I'll locate it.

Meanwhile, I'll listen to Lenny Kravitz  "Let Love Rule".  BTW, I found this amazing lp at a church book sale for a buck. Hallaluiah!!

Here's one that's, sadly not on vinyl...

Fountains Of Wayne Welcome Interstate Managers". Remember "Stacy's Mom"?

This band has it all! Skillful pop, top 40, to rock and heavier rock.. They are supremely skillful at their songwriting craft and adding to that, the perfect amount of what ever else is needed to make an extremely enjoyable  listening experience.

I just listened to "Utopia Parkway" on vinyl. Highly recommended!!
Hey Slaw,

"What a Killer!!!!!"

"Cortez the Killer" is one of my all time favorite songs, PERIOD! The Built to Spill version is indeed excellente’.

Last Friday night one of my neighbors was playing in the bar at my local hockey club. Half way through the set he ripped off a righteous version of the song. I had already had a few beers. It was outstanding.......

But I still prefer Neil Young’s version on Live Rust. I just think Neil’s voice adds something to the feel of the song.

Happy Weekend to All. Enjoy!
For anyone who 's looking for something different...

The Court & Spark  "Your Mother Was The Lightning".

This band has become what is now Hiss Golden Messenger.
( I've mentioned this one before, just happened to think about it..."Cortez The Killer" from Built To Spill  "Live".

Maybe THE best version ever?
The Allman Brothers Band Fillmore East Pink Label 1st Press
Sean McConnell
Richard Thompson - Shoot Out The Lights
nutty, reubent,

I have a single sided 10" vinyl of Trixie Whitley "I'd Rather Go Blind".

I hear why reubent made the connection between the two singers.
Hey Nutty,

Have you heard Trixie Whitley with the band Black Dub? Black Dub is an excellent album IMHO.

So, I'll see you your Trixie Whitley and raise you a Holly Smith.........

slaw,
Never really listened to Sting outside of The Police. I did try on Lindsey Buckingham but he didn't do it for me. He's very talented though. I’ll check Sting and get back.

There have been several mentions of Sting lately. One that's overlooked is "Mercury Falling". I played it a couple of months ago, mine is the Universal re-issue (lp) from 10 years ago? Sounds great.
slaw,
arcam88 and I were recently speaking about J. Giels Band. They have some really spectacular stuff. Underated for sure.
"Trying not to think about it"
