@nutty - Thanks for the mention of ELP's "Tarkus". Was at Plaid Room Records this morning and plucked a nice copy out of the "new today" used record bin.
Whats playing on your system today?
Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.
I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....
Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....
Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

@nutty - I love The Tubes, especially the earlier stuff before "The Completion Backwards Principle". Have you ever hear their live album - "What Do You Want From Live"? It's a fantastic album for fans of The Tubes and the musicianship is outstanding. I saw them live, right around the time of the taping for the live album. It was one of my top live shows ever. |
@uberwaltz - I love it! The Tubes - "Young and Rich". I'm a big fan of the band. Their live album - "What do you Want From Live" has been in my semi-regular rotation since 1978... Young and Rich - The Tubes Young and Rich Everything you desire Light bulbs with shades in every room And work is play Nothing must come to hard It comes in the mail Most every day I could respect a man who had it all And he'd toss the ball away I know I'm not that kind I wouldn't mind to Have a chance thrown my way Enjoy the new cartridge. Have fun...... |
@boxer12 @uberwaltz I'm a big fan of Adrian Belew. I've got all of his earlier solo albums from 1982's "Lone Rhino" through 1994's "Here". Stopped buying when he went pretty much all experimental guitar. I'm also a fan of his work with The Bears (Local Cincinnati Boys), King Crimson, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Zappa, Paul Simon and all the other artists he's played with/for. Adrian is from the Cincinnati Area and I'm fortunate to have seen him here many times, solo electric band and acoustic, with The Bears and playing with Psychodots. Always awesome. I'm seeing him again here in October. If you haven't heard it before, check out his version of "Crying" from "The Acoustic Adrian Belew". It is outstanding, as is the entire album. |
@uberwaltz - You may be onto something. I think people do have lives outside of their listening rooms and AudiogoN. The weather has $ucked in the Midwest and Northern US. Maybe, since the weather finally broke, people actually went outside? I have wilderness first aid training for 16 hours this weekend and a 7 day sailing trip in the South Keys in a couple of weeks. I won't have access to music, or AudiogoN........ Happy Summer to Everyone! Go outside and smell the pollen and mold (it's been really wet here)! And enjoy! |
@boxer12 - Funk/Rock Fusion might be a good description.... Check out their cover of Stone Temple Pilot's - "Interstate Love Song" Steve Farrone's Farm Fur - "Interstate Love Song" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWE5QZT3k3Q Check out the Wiki on Steve Farrone if you are not familiar with him. He's considered by many to be one of the best rhythm drummers ever. He gets a lot of work..... |
@nutty - Happy New Year to you. Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush were scheduled to play at Ludlow Garage in Clifton. I think it got rescheduled, but will probably be postponed again. You should check them out if they do end up coming to town..... I was thinking about going. Saw them many, many moons ago..... |
@ozzy - "Amused to Death" is a concept album. I don't think any of the individual tracks hold up on their own. However, played in its entirety, in one sitting, it hold up pretty well. But only if you like it. Some/many won't. I like it, but it's not on my desert island list. I think many of the comments you read about it are due to it being mixed with Qsound spatial enhancing processing to give it a more 3D soundfield. It indeed does have 3D sound qualities. |
