Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Was watching Steve Gutenberg this morning, and he brought up this LP. So, decided to grab it and spin it myself.

Eno/Byrne - My Life In The Bush of Ghosts. Sire 1981
@spiritofradio

Johann Sebastian Bach
Violinkonzert In A-moll Und E-Dur
Konzert Für Zwei Violinen In D-moll
David and Igor Oistrach
Wiener Symphoniker & RPH
Georg Fischer & Sir Eugene Goossens
Deutsche Grammophon 1963 Germany

On my radar James. Thanks for the heads-up. Sounds like you got a great deal on this.
While in that section of the racks….

R.E.M. - Fables Of The Reconstruction / Reconstruction Of The Fables. I.R.S. Records 1985
@bkeskeLooks like it goes for just 20-30 bucks online.  Probably not on the audiophile radar for Sonics.   Anyway the Sonics are good if not exceptional but the performance, by DO and especially by the music made by father and son together is exceptional.  Very moving (on music everyone’s heard a thousand times).
Here’s something for a cool bright Saturday morning over breakfast.

Franz Joseph Haydn
String Quartets op. 20, nos. 2&4
Quartetto Esterházy
Original Insturments
ProArte 1973

It gets my highest recommendation! SQ is superb! High quality vinyl to boot .
Berliner Philharmoniker
Musik Für Blechbläser
(Music for Brass)
DG 1982 Germany
(Digital)

Sounds good.  I mean, it’s supposed to be bright.

John Mayall and Eric Clapton - Blues Breakers. London Collectors Edition reissue 1977, originally 1966
Terri Garrison - Only Love ( Vandersteen Records 1992 - for lovers of two microphone direct to tape , Tim De Paravicini, Kavi Alexander recordings… )

Lovely mix of blues and spiritual features arrangements and playing of David Lindley

Holy smokes….was checking YouTube and what came up? A full live concert by the Jerry Garcia Band from 1990, in Shoreline CA. I have this same concert on a double cassette set, I’m sure of it.

Listening to that set, I always felt that might have been the strongest live performance I’ve ever heard from Jerry, including his playing, and watching it only reinforces it.

incredible. As I don’t think I can post a link, just do a search if interested. Jerry at his best. Check it out Jerry fans.
Jim, I helped set up my music friend's speaker/sub set-up today and WOW! I've never heard that album sound so good. It puts about everything else to shame. I commented to him that I wished we hadn't listened to it now because everything else sounds inferior.

+1 bkeske,
1990 Was a great year for Jerry. It appeared like he was enjoying his sobriety. So much talent.
St. Paul & The Broken Bones "Live"
dbl/lp/45 rpm/RSD

I have the studio lp and never play it because it’s too digital. My hope is for this one to shine. Great music!

Absolutely. He was having so much fun during this concert. He and Melvin Seals were just on fire. And to think we lost him only 5 years later.

I went to see if there were any releases on vinyl, but none. I went ahead and bought a CD version though. A great song set.

This performance was bar none the best I’ve ever heard Jerry, and I got to see him quite a few times in person. A couple times as the Jerry Garcia Band, but those were both in the 70’s.
That Eels record is one I don't have Tim. How would you compare it to others?
Brian,

Nice to have you listening/posting all day long. Reminds me of someone I know.
It was a dedicated day off Steve…..been way too busy.

Nice capper to the Saturday watching Jerry. These are the times I love flipping a switch and having 5 channel sound and putting myself at the venue. My system is blasting right now. Had to shut the windows and turn on the AC before the cops knocked on my door 😁

BTW, I have that Eels on CD. As usual, another great release by E.
