Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Ra ..... Utopia.

401/Micro Seiki/ Scheu rig.

This is I think my favorite Utopia album.
Bonny Light Horseman "S/T"

I'm still grateful to James @spiritofradio , for turning me on to this great record!
In case any here aren’t aware, this is the 15% off/free shipping weekend sale at
www.musicdirect.com

I assume,

www.elusivedisc.com   is matching?

Never even heard of it Slaw.

I had forgotten just how great Ra is.
Side 2 is extra special but they must have been on some really good drugs at the time.

I mean Singring and the Glass Guitar is outlandish but spectacular at the same time.

I met a Sapphire in Georgia

On the SOTA tonight...
I always wanted a SOTA . Had an opportunity to buy one locally, didn’t pan out. I assume it’s still sitting unused. Very sad. Frankly, after all of the blood, sweat and tears, I'm very happy with what I have now!

After further thought. I bought the SOTA. Let the fun begin 😁 Thanks for your consultation Jim.
@slaw

Oh I will. I feel good about this. Not a big fan of the all oak finish, but sound before aesthetics. And heck, could always find a cabinet maker re-stain and finish it.

Can’t thank all enough for your help on this move.

Now for an arm.
@bkeske,

I don't have any experience, but the Zeta arm recommended by @bdp24 , is very inexpensive for it's price/performance.
Right on Brian !!!! The SOTA is also an incremental growth platform vs. the MoFi ( which is a good deck for sure )

ok ten vinyl let’s help Brian find an arm. His table came with the super arm board which is > $200 so take that into consideration...
Tony Joe White - That on the Road Look

Live

what a great groove.... possibly a condo eviction record.... SPL !!!!
Still have my tt project in the back of my mind. It will use the SOTA/Phoenix Engineering motor/psu/tach. I’ve had the outboard motor enclosure top plate, machined out of 6061 aluminum. Got a VPI Super Platter/ bearing in the wings, as well as my ET 2.5/set-up.....also a Moerch DP 8
The Flaming Lips "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" German pressing/red vinyl. Amazing!
@slaw

Thanks man. I’m going to initially try to use the higher end armboard that is coming with it. Drilled for a Jelco, or at least meets the spec: 214mm from the spindle and 30mm hole.

If that doesn’t work at first, then look for an alternative.
I have heard the Kuzma, fantastic ridged arm... Was on my shortlist but who is selling one for $ 1 k ?
Herbie Hancock - Get on Down

dynamic - excellent drums and horn, super tight band...
Actually, take a look at the Funk Firm site. They seem to have addressed past issues.
Astra ..... Asia.

Good show Brian!
keep your eye on that eBay Jelco.
With all the accessories if it stays below $1k I think it would be a great start.

Thats the one I’m concentrating on right now. I will go a bit above $1,000 to get it, and that is worth it, especially with the Audioquest cable. If it comes in below $1,000 I would consider it a great deal, and my total investment around $2,000....which would please me greatly.
Wait....”total investment” isn’t realistic considering the rabbit hole I just leaped into 😁

At least it would be a very solid start
FWIW, the Marc Tunis phono cable upgraded w/ KLE Absolute Harmony RCAs is a killer!!!!!

Bought the KLE from www.partsconnexion.com.  at 33% discount.

Total investment under $300.00.

I say yay!!!!
I better not start on how dark and deep these rabbit holes can get....😁😁.

Saying that I am pretty content with the range of carts and TT I have at my disposal right now although I do consider the Rega arm on the Avid to be it's weak link.
Doh, I'm teetering on the edge of that hole......🤔🤔

I’ll definitely keep it mind. But, just ordered 2 sets of Audio Envy IC’s. So, trying to go slow, lol.

Right.....😁
Cool beans! Slaw!
Another possibility for tonearm Brian.

Origin live.

Drrsutliff swears by them, he has two mounted right now but higher up the food chain.
Supposed to fit anywhere a Rega will.
Think there are a couple on the Gon too.

Something I am considering to replace my Rega arm down the road.
@bkeske,

I love and respect @noromance journey.
His use of Jelco arms are well written.

Having said that, he was recently found to have a cart/arm mismatch after his years of experience.

I therefore don’t have love for Jelco.

My very first high end arm, Audioquest PT.5 . Manufactured by Jelco.

I'm already dreading my end of day, end of listening for several days
Shame.
Fortunately It looks like a down week next week so should make up for lost vinyl playback.

In-between knocking items off the honey dew list of course.
@uberwaltz

Within my targeted  price range. Will look into the mounting specs closer.

IF anyone knows of a Kuzma 9” in that range, please let me know.

also Donna at SOTA is an Origin Live dealer - good synergy:-)))
