My sister in laws neighbor just gave me her old record collection. Many seem to never have been played:

The Eagles Greatest Hits 71 -75

The Judds (great recording)

Journey - Escape

The Police - Ghost in the Machine

There's a lot more, and a lot of it is crap, but after cleaning these, there are no pops, no scratches, nothing. It's a good Friday.
Green Day "Twenty First Century Breakdown"

Melody Gardot "My One and Only Thrill"

there has been some good music this year!

Oh yeah and a new Rhino pressing of "Machine Head" that took months to recieve, sublime record
The Eagles - Hotel California

Black Sabatth - Paranoid

The Beatles - Rubber Soul
Oh and I can't forget:

Depeche Mode - Violator

I was a big fan in the 80's and thought that their music would sound very dated, very quickly because it had such a distinctively "80's" sound. I was dead wrong. Great album, still sound great. My kids think it's humpin.
This is my favorite post ever on here. It should have it's own website!! I love to read what everyone is listening to, it gives me a lot of goof ideas.

Tonight:

Led Zeppelin - "Mothership" it's the mother-load of Led Zep recordings.

Steely Dan "Aja" - again, and again....
AC/DC "Back In Black"

Bad Co

Ray La Mantagne "Gossip in the Grain"

Melody Gardot "My One and Only Thrill'

I am breaking the rules and listening to digital tonight with the trick or treaters coming around.

The Bryston DAC is stellar, not analog mind you, but it does sound good. In fact I hate to admit, but the Norah Jones vinyl version I have of Come Away with Me does not sound as good as the digital file through my DAC.

I hate to admit it, but this is really convenient.
Smashing Pumpking - Siamese Dream

Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra - Mozart Eine Kleine Nachtmusik

Rosan Cash - The List

The Police - Zenyotta Mondatta

Chet Baker - Chet is Back!!

wife and kids are out tonight, so lots of loud stuff!!

Billie Holliday - The Real Story of Billie Holliday
Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker (complete) Artur Rodzinski, with the London Philharomonic

Journey - Escape

Joni Mitchell - Blue

Carol King - Tapestry

The Who - Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncey

And a variety of Beethoween and Mozart from some great old records a friend brought over where her father is either the Concertmaster or Soloist. Very cool.
New Norah Jones - it's OK, I don't remember the title if that says anything

Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood, sublime

Areatha Franklin - Live at the Filmore East

The Producers - You Make the Heat (very guilty pleasure)

Chet Baker - Chet Baker Sings
Last week I was at the local record store and browsing though the "newly arrived" used records and something made me check out a particularly bad looking Dark Side Of the Moon.

I think it was the fact that they were asking $30 bucks for an album that had a terrible cover, I thought it was a mistake, but it wasn't.

When I took the record out, I realized it was first pressing from 1973, and even though it was dusty, it looked amost new. I played it on in the store, and it sounded fine, but I knew I wouldn't really to be able to tell if it was noisy or not until I got home, cleaned it Walker/VPI 16.5, and it's just sublime. Much less noisy than any of the 3 "new" copies I have tried this year.

It does sound different from the new pressings, it's more open and extended, not at warm. Not better or worse, just different.

What a find.
Al Green - Greatest Hits

Led Zeppenlin - II (unopened, green Mexican pressing from '81, pretty cool), IV (orginal '71 pressing, in great shape after a 3rd cleaning)

Cassandra Wilson - Loverly

Radiohead - Pablo Honey, new but with a significant warp, thank God for the periphery ring.

Tears for Fears - Seeds of Love (like new), Songs from the Big Chair

Badfinger - Straight Up, not a great copy, but hard to find a good one

Black Sabbath - Paranoid

Shelby Lynne - Just a Little Lovin (one of my all time Fav's)
Philb7777,

I must admit that after reading your post, in response to my admission to listening to the Producers, I went to the garage and grabbed the following albums, steam/Walker Solutions, cleaned them then had a very guilty '80's listening session:

The Power Station

Duran Duran - Rio

The Outfield - Play Deep

The Fixx - Reach the Beach

ahh, it feels good to get that off my chest, I've been feeling so guilty.
INXS - Kick (found an unopened one)

Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti (found an orig pressing, that's pristine)

The Beatles - A Hard Days Night (mono)
Buddy Holly Complete Boxed Set -

Sublime find, I didn't even know I was a fan. What a great compilation, and it's in absolutely mint condition. I must say though, that the water from the record cleaning machine after I was done cleaning these was the dirtiest I have ever seen. I never really knew how great Buddy was, or how many of his songs are now standards. I have to say, this is going to be in the rotation heavily from now on.

Roy Orbinson - Greatest Hits MoFi

Kind of keeping up a theme here, MoFi did a great job with this, the songs reall sound stellar, and man what a voice.
Thats's the exact set I found, you are 100% right about it, it's great!!

6 sublime LP's, these don't look like they ever saw a needle.
Rush, that's not the set I have, I just read through the whole thing again, thx for the idea though, i will look for that now.
The Pixies - Doolittle (MFSL)

The Pretenders - The Singles

Jimmy Hendrix - Are You Experienced

Vampire Weekend - Contra (not sure on this yet)

It's 1984 all over again!!

The Police - Outlandos D'Amour

Tom Petty - Damn the Torpedos

Led Zeppeline - Physical Graffiti
Bad Co

The Police - Synchronicity

Academy of St Martin in the Fields - Amadues Sountrack

Foo Fighters - Greatest Hits

Heart - Greatest Hits

ZZ Top - Tres Hombres

Dave Brubek - Time Out

The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
I'm shocked at how great it sounds. I thought that all of the tracks, or most, were digitally recorded, so I didn't expect that much, but the record is fantastic.

Plus, I really love Foo Fighters anyway, so....
Beach Boys - Made in USA (found it today, I don't think it had ever been played!!)

Black Sabbath - Paranoid (180g)

The Cult - Electric

The Cult - Love (180g)

Jimmy Hendrix - Valley's of Neptune

New Pornographers - Twin Cinema

AC/DC - Back in Black (180g)
Buddy Holly - The Complete Recordings

Nina Simone - Black is the Color of My True Love..

Badfinger - Straight Up

Boston

Stevie Wonder - Talking Book
Led Zeppelin - II Japanese Promo copy - WOW, best pressing I have ever heard. Like brand new too. I'm sorry I bought it, now that's all I want to buy is these super expensive Japanese pressings.

The Beatles - Beatles Forever (Hey Jude) another sublime Japanese pressing. It was worth the money.

Frank Sinatra - Live in Paris (MFSL) my first Frank on vinyl, a great place to start

Madeliene Peyroux - Bare Bones (MFSL) not my fav album of hers, but still better than most
The Replacements - Pleased to Meet Me (great new pressing)

Rolling Stones - Exhile on Mainstreet

INXS - Kick (reminds me of Exhile, that's why I pulled it out)

Chet Baker - Chet
Thin Lizzy - Jail Break (180g)

Stone Temple Pilots (180g) - Great album, who would have thought they could pull off another great album?

Black Keys - Brothers (180g)

Pixies - Surfer Rosa, Doolittle (MOFI)
The Police - Outlandas D'Amour (200 g Japanese pressing)

Nirvana - Unplugged in NY (180g red vinyl)

The Yes Album (180g pressing)

AC/DC - Back in Black (180 g)

The Black Keys - Brothers

Frank Sinatra Live in Paris (MFSL 180g)
Melody Gardot - My One and Only Thrill (sorry, yes AGAIN)

The Eagles - Hotel California

Fleetwood Mac

The Police - Synchronicity

Ella Fitzgerald - Sings the Cole Porter Songbook

Tierney Sutton - Dancing in the Dark (sublime vocals)
I loved Inglorious Basterds! Christopher Waltz steals the movie, and I am shocked by how good Diane Kruger is in that movie, she's great, as well as the beautiful French actress who plays the theater owner.

I need to rent that again, my wife didn't want to see it because of the violence, but I know the movie well enough to zip through the parts she will gross out at.
Billy Holliday - Lady Day

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Mecury 180g)

Journey - Captured

The Police - Zenyota Mondata

John Coltrane - Blue Train
The Beatles - Abbey Road MFSL 1976 (mint find, $60!!)

The Outfield - Play Deep

Steely Dan - Aja (at least twice)

Madonna - Celebration (yes I admited it, that just happened)

Led Zeppelin - II (Japanese pressing)

The Cars - (MOFI, new, but not a great record, lots of side surfice noise, disappointing)

Les Miserables - Original London Cast Recording
S-R-WoTen, I know, I love MFSL stuff and that is a great album. I'm not happy about it, I should have returned it when I first got it, but didn't get around to it then.

Too late now.
MFSL - Beatles Box

I know some of the record afficiandos don't love this set, but to me it's sublime. I have wanted one since buying my first MFSL Beatle album, and I finally bit the bullet, bid up and got one for what I feel was a great price.

I couldn't be happier, the vinyl is in sublime shape.

No, it's not the Japanese mono versions, which I have heard a few of recently, but I still think they are stellar.

An all Beatles weekend is in store.
Richard, it's a Rhino reissue. It sounds great, I'm 99% sure it is not a digitized remaster. It does not sound that way, nor does is say that anywhere. It is a huge imporvement over the nasty, surface noise vinyl from my 80's copy of this album.
