The MoFi ’One Step’ Mingus Ah Um. While this record is good, I feel it does have a certain digital sheen to it that is obvious after one knows its ’history’. I say this, as I followed it up with the Tone Poet release of Breakin Point by Freddie Hubbard, which was mastered by Kevin Gray and from an all AAA tape. The difference in overall SQ ( at least on my system) is fairly easy to hear. The ’One Step’ Mingus is just a little less warm and a tad less airy sounding. Both good, but the TP has the better SQ, surprisingly!

Flamenco Fever--Superb Direct to Disc..

Bill Evans MoFi One step Portraits in Jazz,

Shelby Lynne Just a little Lovin'

Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme  Simon and Garfunkel MFSL

Black Sabbath Master of Reality UK Vertigo 1st pressing.

Black Sabbath Vol4 Vertigo UK 1st pressing.

The Weavers 'reunion at Carnegie Hall" on the Analog Productions reissue. Just an amazing sound and performance. Probably helped by the fact that Doug Sax did the remastering.
For Duke Bill Berry and Flamenco Fever, both on the M&K label and both Direct to Disc demonstration discs IMO.
The Allman Bros.. 'At Fillmore East' on theNautilus LP.. THE rendition of 'whipping post' IMHO.
Also was listening to Cat Stevens 'Tea for the Tillerman' on the Pink band Island UK label. Good sound, but my copy has a TON of background grunge..:0(
I'm going to try some new Gruv Glide to see if I can clean this LP up. BTW, I highly recommend Gruv Glide for you analog guys.
Budgie...Squawk..Original UK MCA pressing

Uriah Heep..Demons and Wizards...Bronze UK Pressing
Original Shaded Dog 1s 1s pressing of LSC 2241.....1812 Overture with Reiner and the Chicago. Cannon front copy, which IMO sounds WAY better than the later itinerations.

Worth getting your hands on a copy of this sweet LP if you can.
On the TT tonight is the new pressing of Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman on Chad Kassem's new label... Analogue Productions...Quality Pressings.
BIG disappointment for this much praised pressing....Something went seriously wrong with this LP, IMHO..:0(
