Hank Williams Jr.-High Notes Side 1

Hubbard-Not only a solid Audiophile SQ recording but with 5* content. High Notes is one of the best pure country recordings of the 1980's. Mott a somewhat overlooked very strong 1970's live recording, SQ is decent. New Weave is a 5* jazz fusion album and one of my favorites in this genre.

+1  @big_greg     Pat Benatar is seriously over looked by many Audiophiles as frivolous. IMO her recordings are equal to Kate Bush that many Audiophiles rave over.

Joni Mitchell-Clouds Side 2 SQ*

SQ* Pavarotti/Transfer/Mitchell were very close to Audiophile SQ. Hancock takes the SQ crown for having a very wide/deep soundstage. Head On might be the best sounding BTO recording?

5/8 recordings reached Audiophile SQ level. The irony is Ms.Warnes fell short despite Bernie Grundman(maybe a poor pressing?) The SQ winner is the King/Queen of the dollar bins! Maybe these United Artists/Ultra Audio releases are worth looking for?

Played the vinyl last night and noted the SQ but was just to tired for posting. Thought I would also grade the performance. I had the most difficulty grading the sound of the Rick Dufay album. It was recorded using the 3M system(The Record Plant Studio C) and mastered by Bernie Grundman using the 3M system at A&M. Clearly not at the same SQ level of Steely Dan-Gaucho(3M system) but the 3.9 might be on the low side, need to listen to the complete album. I’m sure some will disagree with my SQ ratings but let me know if I’m way off the mark with SQ or PF.
@slaw

It gives me the ability to play more recordings per session. I usually post twice a week on Agon but I will listen to the complete album if content or sonics grab me on other days. An example is Burt Bacharach-Living Together little acclaim for this recording but the SQ is easily a 4.5/5, also the performance is better then expected. With a vinyl collection of approx. 1300 I'm working towards playing the entire collection. Since April 2020 I have played over 400 albums with only several repeats that I have posted here.
@tomic601

Thx for kind words. I wanted a clear and precise way to post making it easier for the viewer to read. I only post after all recordings are finished. If additional info is needed for classical or obscure recordings I will post the record label and catalogue number. I have thought about giving a sound quality rating to each album played. Your thoughts?

Just picked up Jane Morgan/Fascination at Goodwill a couple weeks ago. The stereo version KS 3017 was released later then 57' 1961? The condition is VG+ at best, SQ was better then expected. IMO her voice reminds me of Doris Day with a Jazz edge. FWIW she is still here on Earth at age 96!

Thx to all that have responded! This idea of posting what I play came indirectly from my wife. I had purchased about 60 albums from an early spring garage sale and she said you plan on opening a record store? Obviously 1000+ albums does not make a record store but to a non audiophile its about 900 albums you don’t need. This made me think how many albums is to many and how long would it take to play all of them? In 7 months twice a week(a few missed days) 6-8 albums sides has totaled 329 albums, so roughly over 2 years to play 1 side of every album in my collection. In conclusion, for me the sweet spot is never exceeding 1500 albums and then consider many of us have an equal amount(approx. 1000) of compact discs.

Note*** I started recording my playlist on 4/14 of this year. Have played 332 albums only 3 have been repeated, Marlena Shaw-Is It Love. Played side A 6/16 side B 10/25. Sergio Franchi/I'm A Fool To Want You side 2 5/19 side 1 8/9. Steely Dan/Gaucho side A 2X 5/10 7/28 Are the Babylon Sisters responsible for my repeat? My vinyl collection is around 1400 approx, 50 are in poor condition(Toss) 75 are multiple copies and another 50 i have no interest in. So that gives me around 1200+ albums so in a 7 month period i have spun over 27% of my vinyl collection which is of modest size, Just want to make a point not all audiophiles play the same 50 or so albums over and over!

Interesting note Jackson Browne had his first 7 albums certified platinum in the US. Quite an accomplishment considering the mature adult lyrical content. Need to find a mint original pressing of The Pretender and Late For The Sky, my garage sale find of Running on Empty is near mint. Hate to pay $50 for an album that was $5 10 years ago! Will spin an overlooked album(if I can find it) Lives In The Balance tonight!
