but as i recall Steve your tables lack a spring suspension. your springs are on the lever table hinged from wall. Compound springs on springs in a resonant TT arm cartridge system is a no no.

Jennifer Warnes - The Well ( Impex Box # )

Degritter sans extra tank has arrived, unboxing tomorrow….

i have also heard the new compound setup and it is stellar, perhaps the best system i have ever heard.. The miscalculation was result of incorrect mass specification from TT mfg, running change , improvements.....ha
i should clarify, compound spring systems with TT, when they exhibit reinforcing fundamental resonance frequencies are bad in an obvious and often woofer puking way. i don’t think you are doing anything wrong Steve to wit your good sonic results.

i based my comments on real world experience w a 6 degree of freedom base miscalculated for TT mass on a minus K system, only a quick hand ( not mine ) on the volume saved the speakers....

Steve - what are you using for shelves ? i need to change mine at the condo
for the adventuresome who are mucking about w speaker crossovers, Wonder Coat conformal coating is what Vandersteen use on the Treo at least to reduce microphonics.... the Quattro and up use more advanced technologies....

Brian - i am going to put some Dynamat in the boat cabin for noise reduction if it proves a bit howly....
Brian - high praise indeed for the Trumpet - Muveling and i had more than a few conversations when i decided to put the Herron in the audition pile. He unlike another third person voice Herron BOOSTER has credibility because he has actually owned and listened to many phono preamps and many carts. fun and that’s the point.
When Eric comes up to visit we shall listen to SOTA w two MyMat, at the way they are going up I should be able to retire.... again €£¥$$$$

gr8 sound
Joel
- I normally have spares :-)... well that’s what I tell the War Dept.
good luck, Upscale will race care of ya
Tony Joe White - Homemade Icecream ( AP 45 rpm )

lovely gift from audiophile friend, importantly a fellow music lover
@noromance ...well a chance pays off big....above 100 hz is is an astounding recording...and IMO musical performance..

@noromance me either... but pretty sure brother has my old copy.... which freaking snorted and howled with a Dynavector Ruby..... so enquiring minds may ask...

I need to find an affordable NM Lucinda Live at Fillmore... streaming it.... super nice...
@noromance no joy on brother having custody of MFSL Blues Summit....drat....

Yes prayers for Ukraine!

Cowboy Junkies - Reckoning…ya all that… again… Dream of peace… so far a dream denied…

a bit in arrears..

Gillian Welch - Soul Journey

Ann Armstrong / Steve Hughes - I Go to Pieces

Valerie Carter - Just a Stones Throw Away

finishing up with

Leonard Cohen - Songs of Love and Hate ( 50 th )….

seems appropriate….

@slaw no doubt the Vibrato is in the future...

BTW....somewhere I have the first bootleg cassette i did circa 1980 Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special and ABB at Hidden Valley Jam in Southern Ohio.... a mudfest then baked by sun...

Nak portable, two Shures on a pole and a backpack full of booze and C batteries......

Cowboy Junkies - Black Eyed Man

@sailmed perfectly appropriate post… the “ oracle “ will have inputs i am sure….

I am thinking something in the Windham Hill school ( if that’s even a thing ) like maybe George Winston or Liz Story….. ?

kids from Australia show no signs of fading...they got Lynyrd cranked up......

Steve - agree with Ohio - went looking for it and realized it is up North...maybe there is a location field in Discogs collection....

Rosanne Cash - Seven Year Ache
Ray Brown - Soular Energy

signal to noise is terrible....twenty / thirty ? somethings in unit below are having a well deserved Camp Pendelton blowout.....they are on long term assignment from OZ, so i can forgive.....until it cuts into my “ beauty sleep “... yes, i have been told it isn’t working...

Congrats on nice box set Steve !

catching up;

JJ Cale - Troubadour and then “5”

On a roll with JJ ; Guitar Man and to close out the night Naturally……

@noromance i had to pay sometime for the Vandy down firing port.... if this keeps up, I can always upgrade to Quattros
James - I have a German copy of Street Survivors w the same cover.... it’s an emotional tumble.....

Steely Dan - Two Against Nature ( RSD 2021 release )…. in a word superb !

JJ Cale - Troubadour - OP vs Music on Vinyl post Degritter…..

This is highly recommended JJ album…. Film ( results at 11 )

Jim

Squeezing a living out of it ( LRS ) has perhaps squeezed the life out of it..,,

sad story James

any chance you visited Madisound? Over the years we bought a lot of drivers from them....
James - what a great expression- nail hat to wall. Do they use store name on discogs ?

re drivers...yes we did repair a lot of speakers as we were adjacent to Ohio State... Tuesday was tweeter repair day...

we also had a four speaker kit line that we engineered - had one of the first affordable FFT in the USA to work energy storage and time domain impulse response ... IBM bought something like 200 pair for PC point of use displays....and we had an 8” 2 way w Audax soft dome for $199 a pair. At the high end we carried Kef kits and drivers..
fun
lucky to work there...
we were also Infinity dealer, yes the Polycell drivers could vaporize..

A ..tie of sorts..level match needed as the MOV is cut much hotter….without that the MOV is the stuff of legendary hyperbole, a $29 “ hot stamper “. OP is less defined, more gritty, richly toned, better bass, better defined easy to follow bass line. The MOV shines in definition, microdetail, shimmer, clarity, high end extension and scale and depth of stereo image… JJ Cale  Troubadour shootout complete. Collect em all and win !

My pressings of both were good, Lady B is super quiet although that could just be the “ crush “ effect. I jumped on Aimee disc because of the crazy $ for her older stuff….. i must have got lucky….

Steely Dan - Aja

RIP Al Schmidtt . engineer on this and many other fine disc, gone at 91

thanks to Eric for pointing this out on another thread... @bdp

@bslon Bill - What pressing of Whalemeat ? streaming it..but surfing discogs….

thx

Jim
