@slaw
@boxer12 Sorry to hear of your wife's illness.
I have a pair of Tim's ICs. I've no idea of their price point but they sound very nice.

@tomic601 You're too kind.

Pentangle ‎– Cruel Sister (Transatlantic 1970)

Very Jacqui album, light, sparse vocals.

Cochise - S/T (United Artists 1970)

The artwork on the cover sold me when I bought this off BJ Cole in the 80s.
Suzanne Vega ‎- Solitude Standing (A&M 1987 UK)
Remember she was huge? Luka? And so young? And fresh sounding. I bought this when it came out. Now she's 61. Damn.

Fairport Convention ‎- Gladys' Leap (Woodworm 1985)

Solid enough album with Ralph McTell writing some good songs. More folk rock than pure folk.

@tomic601 Nice. I think it was Steve that turned me on to WW.
Speaking of which, @slaw is MIA.
Van Morrison ‎– Beautiful Vision (Mercury 1982)
Cleaning Windows is one of my reference tracks.

This is pretty good. J. Tillman.
Pure Comedy.

Like an American version of a Roy Harper /Roger Waters mash.
Godfrey Hirsch ‎- At Pete's Place, New Orleans (Coral 1965 mono)

Strangly addictive in its chill vibe. VG+ unfortunately.
Bobby Dukoff ‎- Swingy Saxy Sound (Stereoddities 1959?)

This guy engineered a bunch of sax mouthpieces. He died aged 93 in 2012 and his company still sells them. Very mellow sax with some funky Hammond B3 type organ.

Ralph Marterie And His Orchestra ‎- A Salute To The Aragon Ballroom (Mercury 1953)

A WW2 navy man who mastered the trumpet at 17. Okay. So it’s biggish band and a couple of tracks are a bit manic. And it’s a tribute to ballroom.
But there are more than a few numbers on this you must dim the lights for. Magic lies in these grooves. Soaring warm trumpet. Get drunk or stoned. And turn it up.

Flatt & Scruggs ‎- Folk Songs Of Our Land (Columbia 1962 mono)

Recording is excellent. If this was released now, it would be acclaimed. Forget 200grm audiophile recordings. There is banjo and fiddle in this which’ll learn ye how an instrument sounds, ye’hear? Buy this.

@slaw Ha! More evocative than anything. I had to give up the craft ales and won’t even pop a Tylenol!

Love AC/DC Let There Be Rock.
Bobby Dukoff And His Orchestra ‎– Sweet Swingin’ Sax In Stereo (RCA Camden ‎1959)

This is insane. Great recording. Great sax, piano and crystal clear drumkit and some vibes. Then accompanying the music is a a ’dooo di doooo de doo’ female vocals by a one Lois Winter. $1. NM.

Ella Fitzgerald ‎- Sings Sweet Songs For Swingers (Verve 1959 mono)

Thanks @boxer12

Death Vessel is the name of a guy. Joel ... interesting voice.

Lilium ‎- Felt (Glitterhouse 2010)

Hawkwind ‎- Warrior On The Edge Of Time
(United Artists 1975)

One of my all-time favorites. A masterpiece for spacers.
Father John Misty ‎- Pure Comedy (Sub Pop 2017)

Anyone heard and compared the clear vinyl? No need to have carbon black (or blue) impurities in the PVC.

Laurie Anderson – Home Of The Brave (Warner Bros. 1986)

Replacement mint copy of this very weird album. I bought it when it came out and liked a couple of tracks. I destroyed it a few weeks ago with a heat gun. Great sound on a good rig.

It's Immaterial ‎– Life's Hard And Then You Die (Siren 1986)

Bought this when it came out. One of the great 80s British bands. Great recording. Buy this.

Mark Perry ‎– Snappy Turns (Deptford Fun City Records 1980)

Cross between Johnny Rotten and Syd Barrett. Raw and brilliant.

EDIT: I played it on the 9" arm with the Decca Gold Garrott and it sounded quite a lot better. Tight as a nut.
Went back to 12" arm with SuperGold. Raised arm 2mm. Revelation! It never gets old. Really enjoying this Double Bass.
Steeleye Span ‎– The Steeleye Span Story Original Masters (Chrysalis 1977)

Love this English folk. Nice clear recording. Musically excellent. Cheap on Discogs. Buy this.

Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen / Sam Jones ‎- Double Bass (Inner City 1977)‎

That’s a lot of bass. Little plummier than I’d like on some numbers. Sounds like they mixed the two double basses in at a tad too high a level. Guitar is perfect. Drums a little recessed. Or it could be the ESLs. I’ll try it on the other rig later.

EDIT: I played it on the 9" arm with the Decca Gold Garrott and it sounded quite a lot better. Tight as a nut.

Brother Dege ‎- How To Kill A Horse (Magic Bullet 2015)

Redneck or Hillbilly?
It's not bad. Lyrics are weak. LP is a little noisy. It just doesn't feel authentic.

Rimsky-Korsakov, Münchner Symphoniker Orchestra, Hermann Schneider, Alberto Lizzio ‎- Sheherezade, Op. 35 (Zafiro 1977)

Third movement, andantino quasi allegretto. Violin gets me every time.

I keep meaning to get a copy of Tusk. Heard some of it on the big Harbeth 40.2 and it sounded amazing.
Cazzati, Fontana, Marini, Telemann / Gerard Schwarz‎ - A Baroque Trumpet Recital (Nonesuch 1972)

Solid recording and great music.

Les McCann & Eddie Harris ‎- Swiss Movement (Atlantic ‎1969)

Following the last album played. Man, the difference between an analog recording and a digital CD reissued on vinyl.

Rostropovič, Dvořák, Sir Adrian Boult, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra ‎- Cello Concerto (His Master’s Voice 1958 mono)

2nd & 3rd movements. Wow. Dynamics and tonal color in spades. Delicious.

June Christy ‎- This Is June Christy! (Capitol 1958 mono)

Ahh.. real hi-fi recording. Pisses on new 200 grm crap. Buy it and you will know.
