@spiritofradio what a good call on the Freddy Johnston - gave "This Perfect World" a twirl last night then slipped right into Buffalo Tom, "Big Red Letter Day" - BT was a local music scene hero back in the 90's. Had them and Letters to Cleo play a charity gig at my spot back in '94... what a great show and fun night that ran VERY late and ended with me having $200 in eats delivered to my office from the 24hr diner around the corner. Nothing better than washing breakfast sammys down with Rolling Rocks and red wine at 5am with Kay Hanley sitting on your office floor, lol!
@big_greg Station to Station one of Bowies best. Takes me right back to HS and cruising around in my buddy's mile long Caddy... those were "Golden Years" for sure
Cowboy Junkies, "All That Reckoning" - much better than the reviews... gotta hear it for what it is; CJ fan!
Luxman table issues persist so streaming exclusively for a while... OK so, Bob Mould "Workbook" - fascinating talent & excellent album in every way + Matthew Sweet "100% Fun" - a solid 90's nugget
Elton John, “Tumbleweed Connection” & Jayhawks, “Hollywood Town Hall.” Well, my table is still bugging. Motor needs a re-alignment so back to streaming.
Jayhawks are so much fun. Moved in a set of JM Reynaud Twins on some nice Target open stands; really glad I did. What a fabulous set of monitors. So open & detailed w/just the right amount of pop & punch. They mate perfectly with a late 80’s Tandberg 3012 integrated & Rega Dac. Gonna enjoy these for a while...
@spiritofradio Yeah, digging in deep on PB. It’s awfully good and I’m enjoying it a ton. Don’t watch a lot of TV but have time to fill now so,... will check out the soundtrack, TY!
@slaw its a live album that just dropped benefiting Durham Public School students in NC. I streamed after it after JI cause my table is acting poorly. Put it on my to buy list. https://www.jambase.com/article/hiss-golden-messenger-live-album-forward-children
@slaw - yikes, dark mood huh?! Finally watching Peaky Blinders so, not so much playing/listening. Table not performing at its best last couple sessions. Maybe look around for something new soon but, last night Jason Isbell, The 400 Unit “Live from The Ryman” - (decent production) & His Golden Messenger, “Forward Children” needed a fix for some live performances
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals “Cold Roses”, David Bowie “David Live” & R.E.M. “Life’s Rich Pageant” - strange mix for stranger times. Stay safe!
The Wood Brothers, “One Drop of Truth”... like BB Smoke, just great American music
Leonard Cohen, “Death Of A Ladies Man” & Tom Waits, “Closing Time” - darker mood than usual. Switched out my every day Linns for a set of rebuilt vintage Sonab OA14s on these LPs. Sonabs tossed sound all about the room in an eerily satisfying way. Like them a ton!
Paul Weller "A Kind Revolution" - Another found nugget I bought almost 2yrs ago & never opened, well, until last night. It feels kinda like a curtain coming down moment though. So many incarnations in his career. I've thoroughly enjoyed each one all the way back to '77, The Jam & "In The City"
@slaw  Yeah, autocorrect... owner explained it but kinda blew past me (again, too much Beaujolais). Had a conventional tone arm though and a second smaller arm that was used to relay disc conditions to the the autocorrecting two piece platter. It’s fuzzy but that’s what I remember. That was the only one I’ve ever seen and used albeit only a handful of times. It looked fabulous but was and still is more table than I’d ever be able to appreciate. Appeared incredibly temperamental as well. I prefer to just load up and play... keep it all simple.

Rory Gallagher “Tattoo”, Pat Travers
”Putting It Straight” & Aerosmith “Live Bootleg” - good god, talk about getting in the Way Back Machine, lol!
@slaw - 80’s front you back was a great time in my life... living in Belgium & then The Netherlands. Met a local pub owner who I got to know pretty well. He/they (he and his wife) used to have me and some teammates over for wonderful dinners and always way too much wine. He had a rig with a Nakamichi Dragon table which was about the coolest thing I’d ever seen. Had some KEF 105.4s with a massive stack of Naim electronics to fire it all. I couldn’t wait for them to invite us over to hear this kit play. He had some of the greatest music too & to my shock and surprise, they’d let me fumble around with this gear although to be honest, I was always a bit intimidated by that TT. Spent a lot of time in the club business in Boston when I returned home for good in the late 80’s. Been at this all since then and have had various systems & components since my time in Europe (and before) but it took a really great system to turn my head and hear just how good great music could sound
Joe Jackson “Body and Soul”, The Jam “Sound Affects”, Talk Talk “It’s My Life”... decidedly early ‘80s vibe. Bought these three at Newbury Comics on the same day in ‘84 - such a great summer & these albums bring me right back to it
Big Star “Live At Lafayette’s” & Terry Reid “Superlungs” - two all-time favs!
Taste “Taste” self titled Irish blues, so good! Who “Live at Leeds” nuff said!
“Across a Wire” (live) - Counting Crow’s, “These American Blues” - Levi Parham & “Carolina Confessions” - The Marcus King Band. Picked up a Rega DAC and going back and forth vinyl to streaming Tidal for a bead on its performance. Boy, it’s a great sounding unit. Really analog in its presentation and runs really close to my TT & Cart combo which is pretty modest but plays great for me. Was a nice pickup!
The Velvet Underground “Loaded”, T-Rex “Electric Warrior”, Big Star “Radio City” - Big Star, such an influential band. Alex Chilton was a huge talent & way ahead of his time... slinky eclectic vibe last night w/TVU & T-Rex
Ray LaMontagne “Trouble”, Jason Isbell “Something More Than Free” - two fabulous albums
Rolling Stones - “Some Girls”... taking me right back to HS & summer ‘78!
Anderson East “Alive in Tennessee” cover to cover in a post CMA moment. Was an impulse buy and sat for 5mos before I played it; mistake! What a terrific live show - nicely recorded & a recommended musical nugget
Curtis Mayfield “New World Order”, Isley Brothers “Brother, Brother, Brother”, Leon Bridges “Good Thing”... funky vibes
Paul Weller “Stanley Road”, Faces “First Step” & Free “Fire and Water”. Is it me or does great British music always sound best through British gear?
Beastie Boys “Paul’s Boutique” - so great! Blackberry Smoke “The Whippoorwill” & Son Volt “Trace”... Not exactly sure how I got from the BBs to Son Volt in the same sitting. Quite a stretch, lol
David Bowie - “Low”, Sting - “Mercury  Falling”, Steve Earle - “ El Corazon”, Julie Miller - “Broken Things”. Morning mashup between raking leaves and taking dog to the beach... the latter being exponentially more enjoyable!
Walter Wolfman Washington - “My Future Is My Past” & “Half The City” - St Paul & The Broken Bones in a late night session. NOS Grace F9E on the Luxman table sounding particularly nice...
