What to use between Devore Gibbon 3x and its dedicated stand?

I acquired a pair - love their sound - using nearfield.

They arrived with small rectangular sticky pads on the stands - 4 on each stand. They are in pretty bad shape and need to be replaced.

Does anyone know if they are the factory pads or perhaps aftermarket?

I was thinking of small dollups of Blue Tak as a replacement. Any recommendations?

I don't want to go with anything too large like IsoAcoustics. I use them on larger speakers and I know they are great, but I think they would defeat the purpose of the dedicated stands.

Blu-tak works for me I don't have Gibbons but same idea monitors on stands.

Yeah, I was thinking Blu-tak too. I emailed John Devore hoping he had advice, but have not heard back yet. He may opt not to reply because I did not purchase new. No big deal.

I’ve read that the dedicated stands are essential for best sound. I am a bit skeptical how much difference it makes, but if they do improve performance, I would assume that the contact material is important. Should the contacts be used to isolate or to couple? If it’s to isolate, then the stand may not matter much, but if it’s to couple, then what is the best material for coupling? If it’s for coupling, then I would think that the stands should have been designed to be firmly secured to the speaker by some type of bolt or screw system.

I’m very interested in what you find out. The Gibbons 3x have always intrigued me. What are you driving them with?

I've had them a little over a week. They are paired with a powered 12" closed box subwoofer. Placed in very close nearfield position (about 6' from ears). Sound is amazing - best imaging and soundstage I've ever experienced. I've never had speakers dialed in like these. I have a pair of ProAc Response D2R for comparison. Also an outstanding speaker. Each has its own strengths, price is in same ballpark when Devore stands are included. Undecided which pair I will keep.

I"m driving them with Audio Research Reference Ref 3 pre and Ref 75 amp - both tubed components. I believe the ProAc's were voiced with ARC, and the Devores are tube friendly.

This is the view from my head. The ProAcs are not hooked up. When they are they would be positioned in roughly the same place but a bit further back.

I had these speakers and dedicated stands. Assuming you are speaking of the factory bamboo stands, the four little grey pads come form Devore. They are, IMHO, dense foam pads to decouple the speaker from the stand. I would avoid blu-tak as it may discolor the finish as well as couple the speaker to the stand.

I';m sure John can supply you with replacements.

Thanks for the advice mwjones. I tried contacting John a couple of weeks ago, but got no reply. Maybe he has no interest in helping a purchaser of a used item.
