What to try next?

After my episode with OPPO & Tidal on streaming. I would very much like to up my game in the streaming department. This is the way I listen most of the time. Just lazy I guess. I am currently streaming Tidal(no MQA) through the OPPO 105 with an outboard DAC. That unit is Wyred 4 Sound DAC 2V2 SE, hard wired to the internet.. The comments I read most say something like you have to spend a lot more money to do much better. The question is what are people using that they love and is it really better than what I'm using. I would upgrade and/or trade up new or used up to $5000 or so. The rest of the system is Aesthetix Calypso Pre, PS Audio M700 monos, Schmidt custom speaker cables. Signal cable & Cullen power cables(some still stock), Audio Art and Harmonic Technology XLR inter connects, and Tyler Acoustics Woodmere II speakers with stereo Rythmik F12 subs. The room is treated with some pretty decent  DYI panels and base traps Thanks for any insight you may have.

My small fragil mind can't quite figure out if the Bricasei M5 network player will stream Tidal MQA and Qobuz. It seems like no but I'm not sure. It does say Roon end point but I don't know what that means either. Help Please.
This is a matter of taste.  I think for DACs that use the standard family of chips (Cirrus/Wolfson/Burr Brown/ESS, etc...) the Wyred is outstanding.  I would argue that no matter how much you spend, you are probably not going to get a massive difference in sound profile by simply getting a more refined DAC using the same sorts of chips.

If you want a different sounding unit, PS Audio and Chord are two of the more differentiated in that they are not simply using the same chips everyone else uses but it is a combination hardware and software.

The PS Audio's sound depends on which operating system you are running.  Some are great, some not so much.  Chord doesn't change software and this is beneficial in that if you read a review, that is what the DAC will sound like.  You could replace your Wyred and Oppo with a Hugo2 and 2Go if you don't need balanced interconnects and IMO, take a significant step forward.

If you need want a balanced DAC, the Hugo TT2 with a Lumin streamer would be amazing but that is a LOT more.  I am a Chord dealer who takes trades.  I will take your Wyred DAC and Oppo in exchange for either happily.  PM me if you are interested.
For about $5k you could get a used Innuos Zen Mk3 server/streamer and an AudioMirror Tubadour Mklll SE DAC that should be a considerable upgrade to what you’re using now.  Best of luck.
