What matters in an ad?

I recently posted a few ads here at aGon. It took time for each of them concerning an accurate description and meaningful photos. One by one, I created them. I even enjoyed it. Ok so that's me. I read many other ads at this site that are non descriptive, for example, 'if you are reading this then you already know this item' might be my favorite WTH sentence. And then the photos that make little sense or are out of focus.

This would all be of no interest to me except these items sell! I have to wonder if the ad makes so much difference in the first place. Logically, I know that it does.

Lastly is the lack of communication with some buyers and sellers. When I sell an item, I am right on top of it, yet the response from the buyer doesn't come back for days. Do they remember what they bought on Saturday night after too much booze?

I have always had a certain interest in sociology pertaining to religion, business, public in general. This is just one of those things that makes me wonder.

No, feedback isn't the interest so much. I am asking what people, why people buy what they buy. I am including myself here.

Thanks EBM, I agree. A possible exception would be an ad where the seller simply does not know the product. Maybe even an estate sale or something of that nature.

jerryg123,

Wow, thanks for the compliment. Not expected, but appreciated.

I love to build, but I hate to disappoint someone by mere accident. That is one reason that I try to be direct about the description of a product, whether I built it or not.
