Not sure what happened to my vinyl. Have the cover, but LP is missing. What the hel.....Oh well, at least I have a copy until I replace it. |
That's sort of funny bkeske. I bought a used Dave Mason album few months back, never even thought to look at the vinyl as I know the seller well. When I got home there was actually two copies of same record in it😲😲. WTH? Lol. |

Uber, I just heard a few tracks and like the sound. I will sample that tomorrow. I ended up playing Midnight Oil Live tonight. Thanks for the recommendation. Streaming has opened up a world of new music. I don’t find the Tidal app overly friendly, but the archive of music is incredible. |
Frank Zappa- Joe’s Garage acts I, II, and III. Frank was my hero and I get sad. Only 53 he published 50 records. One of the most blistering guitar players. Never did drugs and from that era? In fact if went on tour with him, you had to sign a contract: no drugs and only moderate drinking. You want to ---- up and turn my tour into a party? Do it with someone else. Lord known enough was going on. A lot of brilliant musicians didn’t make it. |
Is it possible to download from Tidal to avoid bandwidth drain during workday? I have a 6TB NAS drive
|
Ovinewar. Yes you can download albums to your device, phone or iPad etc. Don't remember exactly the buttons but there is an option to download for offline usage.
Tidal interface is not the best, maybe give Qobuz a trial. Myself and a lot of members here use it and prefer it to Tidal. And you get full hires without monkeying around with mqa. |

@uberwaltz That's sort of funny bkeske. Kinda sucks as that LP is fetching high prices on Discogs. But....found a reissue on cassette supposedly in VG+ condition. So, of course, I bought it 😁 |
And that was why it was only sort of funny as it is a high dollar album right now....... |
Well, the nice thing is, I’ve found with many high cost older LP’s, you can often find a cassette version in highly rated condition at a fraction of the cost. It’s nice to have a tape deck 👍🏼 |
@bkeske,
Blood on the Tracks, RSD 2019, original New York version, replica of 1974, test pressing.....was more than fairly priced and SQ is superb |
@slaw
thanks Steve. I’ll have to check that out. |

I am still struggling with TIDAL/ROON with regards to unacceptable dynamic range compression which results in clipping distortion on my system. It is not on every stream-for example Steely Dan Gaucho is distortion free , as are Norah Jones albums. but Christopher Cross debut album -as good as it is , has significant distortion . Beach Boys - Pet Sounds , how could distortion be on this iconic album ? But it is. It is driving me nuts! I have read that it may be resonance from the amplifier fuses at a specific frequency . So I am sourcing after market fuses and will install and hope that is the solution.

Totally agree. Apple by Mother Love Bone was getting near $100 on vinyl or more for NM. Mint cassette still sealed was $14. Not sure as all agree it is nice to have a tape deck though...lol. |
Radio Paradise- Norah Jones

One of the real benefits of streamer is you don’t have to be too concerned about the economics of the format. Have you ever bought a collectible LP just to find out it was damaged or you didn’t like it? That’s why I am really liking Qobuz right now. Doesn’t cost more to try things out. BTW, power back on yesterday. Think I saw my house on ABC news last night as part of tornado coverage. Luckily most of the damage was concentrated on the side of the house opposite from my system. Can’t listen to music yet because the water mitigation equipment in the basement is so loud. Glad I can download Qobuz onto my iPhone and listen on headphones. |
Good to hear you are healthy and well. Lots of friends are without electricity on east coast.
Agree on the streaming. Low cost exploration. I just listened to Device recommended by uber. I would not have bought the album if I ran across it, but enjoyed it.

Exactly one of the beauties of streaming imho. I think I have like 1400 albums saved under my Qobuz favourites and I daresay I would not consider buying 10% of them. For $15 a month for hires quality Qobuz it is a no brainer. Glad to hear things are looking up a bit 16f4, hopefully insurance covers most of that damage but still a royal pain to work through it. We had hurricane damage couple years back which meant a new roof but oh boy dealing with the insurance companies was frustrating to say the least! Nickel and dime every aspect! |
Deep Purple - Whoosh!, Qobuz Hi-Res
I'm really digging this! |
Agreed Greg. May have to go on my to buy list....... |

That is err mind blowing and something I have never heard of before. Have you posted this problem as a thread in say the Digital or Tech Talk forums? Before jumping to possible expensive non solutions? There are a lot of smart people on these forums! |
That was my first thought uber... "I may have to pick this up on vinyl" |

Joe Bonamassa - A New Day Now (20th Anniversary Edition), Qobuz Hi-Res |
Took a little break from Joe Bonamassa to work out, listening to the Pandora Techno channel. They put together the best mix (for me) of any of the music services I have. It's mostly high energy tunes which are great for my time on the elliptical trainer. |
Just started on the A New Day Now by Joe Bonamassa on Qobuz hires and so far it is awesome sauce indeed! Another to add to my must buy list! |
Lotta Sea Lice ...... Courtney Barnett/ Kurt Vile.

Not very similar to their earlier stuff, having lost the poppy edge and going more gothic glam metal rock route. |
Pedal Steel Guitar - Will Van Horn
Steel guitar elevator music? I don’t know. But kind of getting sucked in in a mindless sort of way. Amazon Music HD
