As we are in the modern age of music I thought I would see how this fares. We have threads specific for cdp and tt so why not streaming as it is a modern media. I don't care if you stream Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, Paradise Radio or any number of internet stations. I would like you to share your tastes and method of streaming.
I heard an Enya song this evening on a commercial and realized I hadn’t listened to her in dogs years. One of the first CDs I ever purchased. My first wife used to listen to her first album ad nauseum...maybe that’s why I haven’t listened to it since. Enya - Watermark
@16f4, I was a little disappointed with Down the Road Wherever. I’d say that Tracker is my favorite. I also like Get Lucky, the first CD of Privateering and I’m warming up to Kill to Get Crimson.
All of his stuff is very well produced and engineered.
@16f4, I've only been a member for a few years. I'm in and out of the forums. Not a big vinyl guy but did spend some time in the "what's on your turntable" threads in the past.
Thin Lizzy - "Vagabonds of the Western World" - Spotify
Check out - "Little Girl in Bloom" - Wow! Heard this on my Spotify Discover Weekly this week. Never heard anything off this album before. Good stuff, but "Little Girl in Bloom" is special. Went straight onto my "Discovered" playlist where I keep track of all the memorable stuff I've found on Spotify via their Discover Weekly push.
@16f4, if you like accordion check out some of Mark Knopfler's later work. Several tracks on his album Tracker feature accordion rather heavily. Really well produced stuff to.
@16f4 +1 Peter Green - In the Skies! I streamed yesterday but may have heard once on a drive to an ill fated “skiing” trip on the east coast in the 80’s. I have a vinyl version on its way now.
The Beneficiaries - The Crystal City Is Alive, Qobuz. I had a hard time getting into it, but if you ever want to test your system's bass performance...
Thank you, and thanks for this thread. It is always pleasant to expand the library with those who "listen" to music. I love background music as much as the next guy but I am blessed/cursed with the music gene and listen deeply and on every level.
Sorry, missed the subtleties there. I do that, especially in written form. Still, I did get in a plug for accordion music. That doesn’t happen every day. Remind me one day to tell you a story about an accordion, my grandmother and both my (nonconcurrent) wives.
@16f4 That was pretty much tongue in cheek. I don't really care what anyone thinks about me on an internet forum. Really, it's more that I was surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did given my listening tastes. Funny you mention accordion, I'm listening to Ry Cooder Chicken Skin Music on the turntable right now. Accordion and all.
That just might be a little ways out of my comfort zone! But enjoy. And yes Qobuz is a real winner every day for new to us music. $15 a month? Absolute bargain!!
If it wasn’t for streaming on Qobuz I never would have found this. Absolutely fascinating! Five accordionists from around the would, each with different musical styles, coming together for a Japanese-inspired accordion album. Sounds bats**t crazy but it works. And they look badass. https://homerecordsbe.bandcamp.com/album/accordion-samurai
So, just speaking with my granddaughter. She hasn’t had a chance to listen to Taylor Swifts new album, but it is on her list. She recommended Linkin Park’s “Hybrid Theory” and I recommended Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side Of The Moon”. That constitutes a successful inter-generational exchange in my book
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Qobuz Hi-Res
oh, dear...not at all what I expected. Need to go back to my happy place. Need more accordion.
