Vintage Newcomb speakers.. Model 12 K5-11...Any Information

I picked these Newcomb speakers up at a thrift store. They sound great...they seem to be full range.

I can"t find much info about them.

Does anybody have these speakers  or know about them ?

I assume they were used commercially.

Thank you

Just looking around the web, they are industrial sound reenforcing loudspeakers or guitar speakers. A picture would help. Does it have a tweeter?

not a relative, I think they got their foot in the 'education' market early.

I have a cool pair of red headphones made by newcomb, something like these I use when I work on my R2R machines.

lots of stuff pops up

Hi. there is not a tweeter but sounds good .

Excellent but probably less than what we would call full range.

Hi Russ... These speakers have to be full range because the highs are present and really good. It  has no crossover. The sound is crystal clear. It surprises me !

It's really hard to make a full range 12 inch driver. I'm sure it sounds good they were used prolifically.

I've used the suitcase models as stage monitors, but never tried them for HiFi.

They were all over the place (Los Angeles) in the late 70's for approx. $20 pair (junk shops up/down WesternAve in East Hollywood - mainly).

All had ribbed cones, but the magnet shapes varied a lot.

I'd guess that they easily made 8K-9K HZ.

Has a few pairs with large cone tweeters, but they either didn't work or sounded bad.

In hindsight I should have tried replacing the tweeter cap.
