VANDERSTEEN dealer in Tacoma WA has reopened under new ownership

HIGH NOTE AUDIO is now the Vandersteen dealer (and Audio Research, Rega, Audioquest, and other brands too) in Tacoma, WA.

It was formerly Advanced Audio, owned by Definitive out of Seattle, and closed shop briefly a few months ago. Victor Prinsen was one of two main guys at the old store, and has reopened the shop in the same location. He hopes to have a grand reopening soon. He is also looking for some good help. Victor is a good fellow (cheerful, helpful, and patient), and I have bought speakers and a CD player from him and hope to spend more money soon!

I was amazed that for short time it seemed that the closest Vandersteen dealer in the PacNW to Seattle would be Portland OR, with none in Seattle.

I am so happy to hear this.  It’s so hard to find dealers nowadays, let alone great ones.  I have loved all the Vandy dealers I have visited over the years.

I met Victor at an after hours party and we connected because we are both musicians who came up through the symphonic experience, he a clarinetist and me a trumpet player. He was a salesman at Advanced Audio back then, and I was thrilled that after the original owner Curtis sold off to Advanced Audio, I guess they pulled out, and that left an opening for Vincent (and his partner?)

BTW, it was Curtis that first demoed Vanderteen speakers to me back in the ’80s. I was smitten, but always seemed to have other priorities until a used pair of Model 1Bs fell into my hands at Hawthorne. I had my old EPI TE/360 towers that I had won as an old audio sales dog myself. They did not fail until 2008 when I was back in the market for Hi-Fi speakers.

I also met Richard Vandersteen, the mad scientist himself, at Advanced Audio when he was there for a meet and greet. What a nice chap. I cannot say enough good things about Advanced Audio when Curtis owned it, and now Vincent has launched High Note Audio. There care of detail, the professionalism in presentation... they are the best. Take it from an old grisled audio sale guy, they are one of the best. Like in the movie There's Something About Marie, I only bark at the bad ones.

RECOMMENDED.

Victor is a great guy!  He has visited our local music club on a couple of occasions and I know that he has helped at least one of our members with setting up his gear for optimal sound quality.  I visited the store recently and he's done a nice job with the relaunch.  I especially liked that he has demo systems set up that cater to both entry level audiophiles and those seeking the high end.  I hope he does well.
