Usher and Kharma Speakers

Nowhere near the same league.Ushers have beautiful wood work,nice workmanship,but their crossovers are terrible.Drivers are actualy very good.(even their copies of Scanspeak).The Kharma is among the very best and certainly has to rate in the top 10 as do a # of others.If you are willing to modify your crossover in any Usher you will have a very good speaker at their price point

I don't know if this is a isuue for you, but Usher speakers are made in China. They look nice but I refuse to buy anything from a country that treats it's own citizens with such disregard. I almost bought a pair of them a few months ago till I found the source of their manufacture.

In fact Ushers are not made in China.Tha cabinets are made there and the rest of the speaker crosovers,drivers,ect are made in Taiwan.

Can you buy the crossovers, drivers, etc. without the cabinet?

I am interested in mod their cross-over too. I got a pair of their two way monitor (781?). Very nice woofer but can be better in tweeter, or maybe be crossover. You need higher power SS to drive them and they are pretty good if you get enough power. Their bass really kiss as if you got around >150W, that's a 7" woofer only. The presentation is warm if slightly polite at high. Anybody can provide the info of how to modify their crossover?

If you have $8k to spend on a set of speakers you have a lot of listening to do as your options are enviable.

Kharma has made some of the finest speakers on the planet.
In that price range, don't forget to audition the Revels and Piegas.

Take the $8k, buy me a plane ticket to the nearest large city, and we'll go shopping for a set of $7000 for you!

The Usher cabinets are amazing. You get a very special sound from solid wood. Crossover components are weak but no one makes a cabinet that nice out from solid wood.

I'v got usher Cp 8871 and I love it,highly recomended.Now I am selling my ex-speakers Revel f30 which I previously really liked untill now,huuuge improvment well not really comparable,cause they are so truthfull and musical and mainly a lot of resolution.Go get it.

I've heard a pair of the big Ushers at a friend's home. Due to his current setup I can't offer definitive comments except to say they are very dynamic and have extended bass response. I'm not crazy about the speaker terminals which are more massive than what I like to see, but the build quality, at least from outward appearances, looks to be top notch. The solid wood is every bit as impressive as Sonus Faber.

Or even the RM40?

Cabinets may not be as nice, but sonically hard to beat.
