Upgrading from Fluance RT85 to VPI Scout

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to upgrade my turntable and preamp. Currently running a Fluance RT 85 with the 2M blue cartridge and IFI Zen pre amp. A few months ago I upgraded my speakers to Wharfdale Linton Heritage and amp to Leak Stereo 130.

On US Audiomart there is a VPI Scout w/2M bronze for about $1600 (shipping from Canada). Wanted to see if anyone in the community has any experience with the VPI Scout and/or the 2M bronze. Also looking into pairing this turntable with a Parasound XRM phono stage.

Would this combo pair well with the Wharfdale’s and Leak? I think so personally but I would like to get the community’s thoughts.

Thank You.

You might not like the unpivot arm on the VPI. For the same price this Technics would be a solid upgrade above the Fluance!

The Ortofon 2M Bronze is an step up from the Blue and possibly the sweet spot in the Ortofon 2M line.  I have a friend using the Bronze on a VPI turntable with excellent results.  The Unipivot arm is definitely different but after initial trepidation passes its performance can be very worthwhile.  I believe this would be a step forward from where you are at today.
