Upgrading Cartridge - $1000 Soup'er Holiday Edition

I’m possibly upgrading my Nag MP-150 w/JPN-200 stylus. I really like it but feel like I want to experience something on a higher level.

$1k max budget

Technics SL-1200GR (w/fluid damper)

Sutherland Insight 20/20 phono stage

Listen to punk, metal, reggae, 80’s & 90’s alt, electronic/industrial, power noise, and a smattering of jazz.

Looking for a cart with great synergy with both the Technics arm and the Insight phono stage. Looking for a fast, clear sound with great bass.

hana?

DL-1033?

Art9?

Garrott (new)?

AudioTechnica AT ART9 XI (.5mv output).

The new ART9s are a little pricier (try upscale audio for a good discount) but they are way beyond the usual run of $1000 cartridges.  By a mile.

Mine competed quite well on my GR with the ~ $2K Ortofon Cadenza Blue.

ART9XI distinguishing characteristics-

Super clean and refined, a true high end sound.

Colorful and very engaging.

Huge sound stage.

Dynamic.

good question, i have not been able to find the capacitance or tried an MM cartridge.  i am sure ron sutherland will answer if you e-mail sutherland.

I had a Soundsmith Zephyr MIMC Star ES.  ($2K).

The ART9 sounded so much better FYI.
