Two Subs?

With McIntosh's for amplification and Martin Logan Renaissance's for speakers and a JL Audio F113 v2 for a sub, do I really need a second sub for both music and movie performance?  I'm being encouraged by my hi-fi shop to get a second F113 v2, as that is what the manufacturer intends for you to do, but realllly?  I'm more of a music person than a movie person.

@rjamilla,

Everyone's room is different. So it isn't wise to make assumptions on other people's sub placement based only on your own experience.

Cheers.
If you can't put you sub between your two mains, get two subs. Pretty simple Placing a subwoofer between your mains can be awkward, but it may save you a grand or more depending on the subwoofer.
Having two subs has resulted in about four times better bass in my system - for music.  I would like to try three subs.
There are advantages to having multiple subs. One is that it’s easier to integrate a pair of subs into a room than one single sub. Another is that the notion that all bass is mono and omnidirectional is really a myth. There is such a thing as stereo bass. Even if the frequency is low enough to be omni, phase differences in the low frequencies most certainly can result in stereo bass.

Whether it’s worth it to you to have two subs - or not - is another matter.
