Two dedicated lines: What to plug where?
I know this topic has been discussed in some shape or form many times before but the opinions can vary and I wasn't seeing an answer that is more specific to what I'm asking. Broad stroke, here are the details:
• Two home run, dedicated, 20 amp lines running to my system. One line has a one receptacle and the other line is a double gang box with two receptacles.
• I have a Furman PTSD-8 line conditioner
• ElectroClear Quantum Filter
• Digital source/front end components
• 2-channel solid state, high current power amp, 125 w/ch into 8 ohms, 200 w/ch into 4 ohms
• Analog preamp
• Powered subwoofer (class AB plate amp)
Right now I have the amp all by itself on the single gang outlet. On the other line I have the Furman connected to it with the digital front end components plugged into it, the preamp plugged directly into the wall, subwoofer directly into the wall and that ElectroClear filter unit (anyone remember those noise harvester-like units from 20 years ago, it works!). Any suggestions out there on how I could have this stuff plugged in? I know some of this is try "different scenarios and see for yourself" but are there any general guidelines here that most people agree on? For example, Should I have all analog on one line and the digital on the other? So, preamp, amp, subwoofer on the double-gang line and the Furman and digital on the other line? Or should the amp be all by itself on one line alone and then get the preamp and subwoofer on the other line with the digital stuff/Furman? What is the general guidelines, consensus or suggestions? Also, that Electroclear unit, would that be best for analog or digital components? Thanks!
