Tubes for Primaluna DiaLogue Premium HP

Hello,

I am thinking of upgrading my tubes on my PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium HP.

It already has The stock Prima Luna 12au7 preamp tubes and the 8 kt120’s.

I am thinking of upgrading the 6 preamp tubes to Gold Lion ECC82 / B749 / 12AU7.

And is there a recommended larger tubes for this amp?

In general I year for a super wide soundstage, super forward presentation, sultry mids…

I hear that replacing the two gain tubes (?) with Mullard CV4003 has really good results…

And I hear of Gold Lion Kt 77 (?) have terrific results for the large tubes?

Am running B&W 803 Nautilus speakers.

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Richard

The Brimars came from Upscale Audio, NOS-12au7.

The 2 inermost 12Au7 are what you want to experiment with.

Save your money. It can be noticeable to very subtle. YMMV.

KT77/El34  are known for the midrange. You may hear less  bass compared with the KT 120

Been listening to a PLHP for 8 years.

That’s a great tip….

So which should I experiment with first? Sublime, super wide sound stage, dripping golden. Midrange…. Vocals… acoustics… jaw dropping…

is there such a tube for me?

thanks,

r.

Just curious, how are these preamp tubes:

i don’t heat them in the context of this amp very much…

thanks again,

I used to have a pair of the HPs run in mono config. A few other input tubes you may want to consider are the RCA 5814 black plates, GE 5814s, or if you want a brighter sound try some RCA 12AU7 clear tops. All are fairly easy to find on the NOS or used market.

the other area you may want to consider is replacing that 0.1uf white cap on each side (used to add filtering to the B+ for the input tubes) with a Miflex copper foil or a Jupiter copper foil cap. Same would apply to the coupling caps.
