Check your spindle if it's tight. Your outer platter may be scratching plinth.

I replaced the belt on my thorens TD 318 and when i put the outside platter back on, it makes a loud metallic grinding sound. Is it on properly or do I need to lubricate it, and if so, what kind of lubricant and where do I apply it? Also, what is the equivalent model of the Thorens td 318 in the newer models. Thank you.
