One of the greatest concerts I have ever attended was Tony Bennett at the Hollywood Bowl (terrible venue) over a decade ago -- I think it was his 85th birthday. And Tony was not a shadow of his former self, or diminished by age -- he was energetic, in good voice, and great spirits. He sprinted out onto the stage! He gave his all, and the audience loved him.
I had the privilege to see both Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra live late in their careers, and I'm glad I had those opportunities. But those concerts did not compare with Mr. Bennett's. It was a joyful evening!
