thumb drive for source?

I was wondering if I could use a thumb drive with recorded music by just plugging in it into my sim audio moon 300dv2 dac? I would like to try it to see how it compares with my transport to dac combo. So I was wondering if it was possible or do I need to add something to try it? I am sure the challenge may be not controlling the music on it remotely but that is ok in a test to me. This seems like kind of an inexpensive way to test the waters of a different source other than vinyl or cd disc. Thanks for any helpful input.

I’ve been using USB flash drives for years. The latest iteration is USB 3.0 but not all devices will support that.

I can’t say whether they sound any better than CD but I also can’t imagine any reason why they wouldn't.

Surely, without any moving parts involved, they must be at a technical, if not any perceptibly sonic advantage.

That's a pity as it's got a lot going for it.
It's robust, easy to backup, inconspicuous and works well with downloads.

I still burn the occasional CDR, had to do a Christmas compilation recently, but straight from USB would give a similar kind of flexibility as Minidisc used to.
