Given the age of that unit, I recommend you have it fully restored. I sold my Threshold S/500 about 20 years ago and it was restored before resale… and the performance difference was remarkable.

+1, I agree.   Restoring vintage audio equipment like the Threshold S/300  amplifier can significantly improve its performance, especially given its age and the wear of components such as capacitors.  Replacing aging power supply capacitors and upgrading passive parts not only extends the unit’s lifespan but also results in noticeable sonic improvements. If your unit is decades old, a full restoration by a qualified technician is highly recommended to ensure reliability and optimal sound quality.

For some reasons Thresholds have had a history of off/on switches problems. I had a 400 A and that's how i leaned to solder. They would supply the the switch. My 4000 has been modified so the switch can be done with spades.

When I bought my Threshold s/500 in 1979 (?) the switch was always pretty sloppy. But it worked for fifteen year. Not surprising some may have failed.
