Thiel-REL Acoustics Pairing

Hi. A rep at REL Acoustics suggested the REL Acoustics S/510 to pair with my Thiel CS2.3.  Frankly, I was hoping he'd suggest the T-7x, or the T-9x at most.  First, I want to go with dual subs.  Second, my budget is limited.  I'm aware that the sub technology has advanced, and REL's chief designer has talked about that in comparing the old and the new REL's, but would the older reference REL subs, such as the Stadium, the Strata, or the likes be somewhat equivalent to the current mid-level models?

Having own Rel since the company's beginnings and now running 2 S510  ( I own a pair of Thiel but they are boxed up at present) I would suggest this .A T9x is around 1500 or something like that im not sure and the list on the S510 is 2500,but if you shop around you will find a dealer willing to hook you up for 2k on a S510.I bought 2 of them not at the same time like that. When the time comes( and you saved enough cash)get another S510.They are that good! The only other sub I would possibly and thats a big possibly consider would be the JL Audio  but they have build issues, read all the complaints.
I used a REL Strata with my Thiel 2.4s  Worked well.  As far as that era of REL highly recommend the Strata since it is a sealed design with no port chuffing as was noted some in the larger designs. Provided perfect fill below the Thiels in my system at the time.
