TEKTON OWNERS

I have the regular Lores (with the gold Audax tweeter).  The bass will come, but only after giving them some pretty serious volume for a couple days.  Mine were rather anemic sounding, even after about 20 hours of play time until I juiced up the volume for about 50 hours.  That's when they started to come together.  If domestic tranquility is an issue, put them face to face about an inch away from each other, wire one speaker out of phase relative to the other, and then crank it.

I've had a lot of fun with mine.  Sound way better than the price would imply, and I can play them to hilariously loud volume levels with 20 watts of SET tube power. Only negative I've found so far is that they need to be played at fairly decent volume levels to come alive.  They are not the best speakers for low-volume listening.  But for me, low volume is like driving a car slowly....doesn't happen. :)

I have a pair of the Lore Reference. As bcowen said about the regular Lore, they also require some break-in time. I also thought they sounded pretty thin out of the box but, once I had a little time on them, I gradually started pushing them a little more. They sounded pretty rough for awhile, but they smoothed out real nice and play pretty darn loud. 

They didn't stay in my main system because I didn't think they were quite big enough for the room (16 x 24). They do sound darned good for the price.

I just picked up a pair of Tekton Mini-Lores.  For the price, they are very good.  

I am curious if the tweeters in the M-Lores can be upgraded to the Audax TW025A28 1" Gold Dome Tweeter that is in the Lore or the tweeter that is in the Lore Reference (I think this is the BC25SG15-04).  The tweeter in the M-Lore is the BC25TG15-04.  Can these simple be swapped out or would the x-overs need to be modified?

I would also like to know what the 8" drivers are in the M-Lore and the Lore.

Don't know about Tektons' tweeters but the last time I tried "upgrading" a pair of tweeters- similar situation; same brand but higher model, it came out too bright. If you're planning to do this, have resistors at hand in case you need to attenuate the top end a little to get the edge off.

Bringing this thread back up, as I'm interested in the Lore References as well.  I currently have a pair of KEF LS50s and am running dual subs.  However, I think my room is just too big for the LS50s.  I do like how clear the LS50s are even at low volume, so the above comment about not being low-volume speakers concerns me (these are also used for TV/Movies in my living room - no center, as it's really not needed with the LS50s.)  Would I see a decrease in performance going to the Lore Reference?

I have auditioned the Double Impact speakers, not my cup of tea.

But my son in law recently purchased a pair of Mini Lore's and I really like the way those sound.

@01svtl I encourage you to ask your question(s) directly over at Tekton Design. Eric will give you guidance about which models fit best within your budget and needs.

Since you already have dual subs and a ’larger’ room, I’d look into scoring a pair of Impact Monitors (B stock, if new is over your budget). Herb Reichert recently reviewed the Impact Monitors (current Stereophile issue) and he has the Kef LS50s as a loudspeaker in his ’associated equipment’ listing. I believe you will find his review will address the needs you bring up in your post.

I just got a pair of Lores,with audax gold tweeter. Bought them used so they are broken in. I'm driving them with 225 watt amp 75 amps peak current. Found they need a really good recording to make them shine. I want to try a few subwoofers with them. Room is 12 X 15 pretty small,I have hat much bigger speakers in the room with no problems.

I own a pair of Enzo XL's.

I upgraded the tweeter to a BE tweeters with as close to the original spec'd speaker as I could find. It was actually a "drop in" replacement. About $300 each, if memory serves.

Despite the 2 ten inch woofers, I would not categorize the Enzo's as "bass heavy", and used a sub with them.

I'm glad you're enjoying your speakers. 

I've since moved up in the food chain to a pair of open baffle speakers (not Tekton), but still have the Enzo's sitting there. Not a bad speaker for the price, but they can't hold a candle to the open baffle speakers (which, at a MSRP of $10K, is completely understandable).

I ran mine with a Classe CA2200 and Classe CP800, so 200wpc. Sources were pretty exclusively CD players.

Mine took a long time to break in, so be patient with them.

Hello Tekton owners/aficionados, I’m getting ready to take the leap into the Ulfberht club and am looking for anyone within a few hours drive from Northern Virginia who would allow me to hear their speakers.  I heard the Moabs briefly a few years ago at a show and liked them, but really need to hear the Ulfs!  I’ve got a pretty decent wine cellar and would love to bring something nice with me to either share or leave for my host.  I’d also be happy to have folks come listen to the Dynaudio Consequence Ultimates I have now as a comparison.
