Jeb, Are you joking, Or have you actually done this type of break-in with a power cord before?, right now, I am spared any storms at the moment, so I am attempting 72 hours of continuous burn-in to accumilate with the 225 hours built up thus far, though the vacum deal sounds like it would work, I need to burn-in the digital player any way, It is new!, I had this same model in 2012, so I know it takes a long time to Burn-in the player, cheers. |
You can speed up the burn-in process on your A/C power cord by plugging it into your vacuum cleaner. Needed would be a cable adapter. Vacuum cleaner A/C plug would feed off of your Tara PC. |
How many $7000 power cords have you heard in your system?
Unless you've heard all of them, being convinced is simply foolish. |
Iblieve, I listened to the Evolution model zero, But no!, I have not A/B the cables, from what I did hear when I listened, The NEW cables are Revolutionary!,Enough for me to move to the Evolution Zero I/C and Evolution Omega speaker cables,, The Evolution Grandmaster power cord will soon be in the market place, However, you might as well sale your first born to buy it, It is cheaper than the best of High-Fidelity's power cords!, would make for a good comparison! |
Latest report, At 240 hours of burn-in with the cobalt power cord, It is beginning to open up, It is lighting fast!, Tiberal accuracy of the drums is uncanny real!, and I am happy to report, there is not bass bump at all!, there was, As the power cord further breaks in, that seems to went away, the clarity is spectacular!, I am truly convinced, there is no better power cord in the $7,000.00 class price point on down period, This power cord will even get better from what I am told with further burn-in according to what Tara labs has told me, cheers. |
I play everything, some are good recording and some just OK. Same with new LP's . |
Jebsmith73,can I ask,do you only have audiophile recordings. The reason I ask ,there's a few of my old CDs,that just don't sound any good on my system now. Thanks |
I believe audio,is better well spent, than on automobiles. At this stage of my life,I'll keep under 2 k for a PC,second hand.Though I like to hear and see what you guys are doing.I should target a audio show in the USA next year,I've never been to one. |
@AUdiolab : Didi you compare your gold Omega to the new eerie?
@Jeb : Damn!!! A whole system for the price of one cable!!! Do you think it worst it? |
Hi Jeb, I E-mailed tara Labs about this to much treble infomation you were talking about, and in turn to my supprise, Devon Scott-Vice president of Tara Labs E-mailed Mr Mathew Bond Him self, As It turns out, The Tara Labs Cobalt Power cord you listened to was not broken in!, I was shocked when Mathew's response quote-, The cobalt power cord takes hundreds of hours to break in, The complexity of the construction requires this amount of break-in,The result is smooth and extended resolution with a sound of realism. End of quote,,, So In my opinion, I will do 700 hours instead of 400 before I know and give my final impressions of this power cord, why so long of a break-in, well, I have the cobalt connected to a cd-player that only draws 25 to 35 watts max from the wall, LOL!, I cannot put the cobalt on my amp, The Krell 700cx is hard wired with a very good big girth stock power cord, and then I do not have an active pre-amp, I use source direct to amp, Very realistic sounding, there you have it, I can only use the cobalt where it is on my digital player, The cobalt with oyaide is retail $5,450.00 for 6ft, oh, and the new Tara labs Grandmaster power cord is around $12,000.00 for 6ft give or take on the price, you would have to call Tara labs to get exact pricing, I only know the rough price, also I was told by Tara Labs that if you do not use the cobalt for two weeks to a month, you will need to re-burn-in the power cord, ouch!, you got a good deal on the Kraken power cords, Misternice, The Kraken power cord retails far more than what Jeb paid for them,I just got my digital player that is breaking in as well, brand new, that is the reason I am just now breaking in the cobalt power cord, Jeb, I got a good deal myself, I got my cobalt that was only a year old, that is short-3ft for an astounding deal here on audiogon a year ago this june for a $1,000.00 out the door, talking about a deal of a life time, Hurray! Thankyou Jebsmith73, you are welcome to this thread any time! |
$ 8,400.00 for 1.5 meters . $11,200.00 for 2.0 meters. Lets just say, somebody needed longer Kraken power cords. I had cash in hand to buy some used 1.5 & 2.0 meter Kraken's !!! Stage 3 Concept is working on new Monster power cord , bigger than the Kraken. $15,000.00 for 1.5 meters. Ouch! |
You guys have too much money,8,700 for a pc,Kracken.Im not saying its not worth it,I bet they sound superb.Way to go |
@Audiolab : Hi mate! happy to read your comments as usual! Still a Taralabs addict by the way?! Did you compare your Omega Gold to the new Evolution series? |
Iblieve, The Tara labs onyx and Zero gold are discontinued now, replaced by two cables that are the forefront of cable technology, The new top cable is called, The Elolution Grandmaster, The second from the flagship is called, The Evolution Zero I/C and matching speaker cable, The Evolution Omega speaker cables, redesigned from the ground up!, go to the Tara site, click on products, go to extended band-width cables, go to page 2, there you will be astounded with the info on the two premier cables of the world-wide market place, cheers. |
Hi Jeb, Yes, The cobalt in some systems has a bass bump for sure, one of the most organic, natural,Rich sounding power cords I know of, My system certainly does not need anymore bass!, The system had very good bass slam and Depth to the begin with, I will see how the cobalt works out, It's on my digital player,I may end up with the same problem you had, How many hours did you have on the cobalt you listened to on your system?, BTW, great review of the Stage -3 concepts kraken power cord, If you can, make sure you audition the Tara labs Evolution Grandmaster power cord, I am told it is quite different than previous power cords from Tara Labs, Thanks Jeb. |
OK, the Tara PC's added a bass bump, in the treble department, added way too much information, causing listening fatigue. Which my system never had before. We moved the Tara cords around started with my Pass Labs XP 25 phono, then to my Ayre KXR pre, last to my Audio Aero CD/Dac player. I then inserted ONE Kraken PC on my line stage. WoW!!! Smooth, natural musical tones, very easy to listen to, with tons of detail , great attack, and decay. We then moved the Kraken over to my phono stage. Same results. The only problem with the Kraken PC in your system , you hear the short comings of your other power cords. My other power cords were, Revelation Audio Precepts. Not a bad cord for the money. Still using one on my Cd Player. So I ended up with 4 Kraken PC's... One on my line stage, other on phono stage, last two on my SS power amps. Power amps never sounded better!!! |
Hi Everybody!
I'm back! After several personal problems, i have now more time to discuss with you folks!
I just sold my Taralabs Omega Edge speaker cable to a fellow Taiwanese guy! I hope it will fit his system. Why did i sell this SC you may ask yourselves?! Well, even if there is a beauty in this cable and plenty of bass, i was not happy with the highs. I think in many system is enough but on my Usher Audio DMD tweeters, the lack of air is clearly missed. Even my Analysis plus big silver oval do better. Recently i made a disturbing experience. I tried a interconnect that changed my way of thinking about expensive cables : the Grimm Audio TPR (10$ a meter!!!!). I bought 2 meters, a pair of Neutrik RCA connectors and weld everything all together... OH MY GOD!!!! The level of detail, depth, wideness, sharpness and emotion was incredible!!!!! So i began to seek for an explanation and i found the website of mister roger sanders. He explained me the filter role of a cable (great guy by the way!) and if you want the best cable in the world, you should seek for the lowest inductance, resistance and capacitance. In fact, if all those measures are no value at all, it's like no cable at all! It doesn't mean that you will like the result cause as a filter, a specific cable will equalize the flaws of the electronics. If there is no flaws in your system, the flattest value cable will be the best. So now i test low capacitance, inductance and resistance cable, starting with the QED silver spiral reference (cheap so not risky..). And Roger is right!!! my system reveal his flaws and his qualities more sharply with that king of cable! I'll try the Skogrand SC Air soon because of even lower value than the QED...and on Friday, i'll receive a power amp from Roger Sanders because his design is direct power to avoid clipping and everything that shouldn't be in electronic design. You should read his white papers! REALLY MIND BLOWING!
I still keep my Onyx power cable. After several weeks now, it sounds deep and crisp as i guess it should sound. But i'll seek for low value power cable as well to test... |
@jebsmith73. How do the kraken sound compared to the tara labs. |
Jeb, when you get time, post us a review here of the sound of the kraken power cord, I do hear alot of good things about this great power cord, congrats to you, I cannot afford a power cord like that, awsome! |
Hi Jeb, what did the stage 3 kraken cost you, if you mind me asking, I know that cable retails for more than double the tara Labs Cobalt power cord, and if you did not have the oyaide version cobalt power cord, It will not be as good, I Have the oyaide version, I could not be happier, the stage 3 kraken should be better, I do want you to know, there is a new power cord on the horizon, Tara labs has a new flagship power cord, they have not started selling it yet, It is called, The Evolution Grandmaster power cord, call Devon scott there at Tara labs, he can tell you about the power cord, this new power cord retails slightly more than the kraken, should be the good comparison to A/B, I will also add, I do not know of a power cord in exsistance at the Retail price of the oyaide version Tara labs cobalt power cord that is better, also, If you did not run the cobalt for atleast 400 hours of burn-in, you wasted your time listening to the power cord, cheers. |
Tried the Tara Labs Gold and Cobalt A/C power cords. Ended up with Stage 3 Kraken PC's.They are a much better fit in my system. |
@misternice@audiolabryinth. The speed, depth and naturlness of this cable is amazing. The technology is different. If thi was the Wild West it would have the quickest draw. Lol |
Misternice, get back to me when you are done taking a peek at the Tara labs site this week-end, I look forward to your impressions, cheers. |
OK will do,this weekend,cheers |
Grey9hound, where are you? |
Hi calvinj,a impressive looking cable.10k ..way way out of my price range, but congratulations. What ever makes one happy |
Bob, when you are not so tired, study what we are talking about, does not matter if you buy or not, knowledge is power, the more you know, the better you are an asset to others. |
Thanks calvinj, going now to read your High-fidelity power cord Review, please do a review on your speakers on this thread, sorry I missed your 2 phone calls, I will call you today the june 8,2014, cheers calvin. |
At The given Retail price of the Tara Labs Cobalt with Oaide top model IEC and Plug, I am sure there may be better, However, I will put this power cord against any thing on the market in the $6,000.00 class and cheaper, and know there is no better of a power cord, All my recordings even at 138 hrs of break-in of this power cord has me Re-discovering the music, personally, I have never owned a better power cord, I know there may be better, at what price?, $8,000.00, $12,000.00, Really!,This power cord is what I can afford, btw, Most audiophiles believe I must be crazy to even have a power cord at $5,450.00 Retail for 6ft. |
Hi,I had a bit of a read, was a bit tired to take it all in.If I was in the market for some and had the coin.Tara labs would be one of the few that you would buy without listening first, such is there reputation. |
@audiolabyrinth. Listened to the high fidelity ultimate reference power cord today. All I got to say I a wowwwwww. It's the truth!!!!!!!!! Man best powercord I have ever heard period. I have tried a lot and it is the best. Look at my review on high fidelity thread. |
@ waxwaves, where you at? |
Bob, you know, It,s been since 1996 That Tara labs has come out with two new flagship cables like the Evolution Grandmaster-1#, The Evolution Zero I/C and matching Evolution Omega speaker cables-2#,, they also have a host of other new models that come in two different models to better suite a system, controlled Band-width and Extended-band-width cables, Both the two top cables only come in the Extended Band-width version, you should check out the site, hit the products link, Read all that you can, Read also what the explanation is of the two Band-widths and get back to me, cheers. |
I cant see them being anything but spectacular,to be honest. |
I cannot waite untill the new Tara Labs cable models get reviewed by pro reviewers, and listened to be the community of Audiogon, seems in the world of High-End, It takes a while for a product to get circulated around before their is impressions posted about them. |
Sorry judyazblues.spelt that wrong |
Great.I may look that direction on my cd player next year. This pc has to and should keep me happy, till next year.Id like some new music next.Any suggestions.Juzablues,do you have something in mind thats pretty awesome.cheers |
I bet the jbls sound good.Ive got a used pc on the way,Ive never herd that model before,so let you know how that sounds too.The nice man of few words who sold me my interconnects, said it will killsec, when I asked him about shunyata in the picture he sent me.Ill take that as ,its a good pc,and run with it.stealth v12 |
All I got To say at this point about the Tara Labs Cobalt power cord with top model Oyaide IEC and Plug is wow!, coming up on 85 hours of break in time, all my recordings are a new revalation!, never have I heard the missing music before Like I am now, this is truely one of the state of the art power cords out there! |
Thankyou calvinj, High-fidelty is a good cable, I look forward to your report, should be fun. |
@audiolabyrinth. high fidelity ultimate reference will go in my system tomorrow. I will shoot you out a report. I also thought the taralabs the one was a real good interconnect. I'm going to put the high fidelity ct1 enhanced loom with ultimate reference power cord tomorrow. Will report out soon. |
BoB, I posted two post to you in response that did not come to this thread, why I do not know?, I have the vintage JBL L-7 speakers, 4-way, 30hz to 27khz, Bi-amp speakers with Tara Labs Omega jumper cables, and poly crystal footers, and still points ss reference footers that I rotate in and out from time to time on the speakers when I want a change in the sound of the speakers, on the most part, the poly crystal footers are better, now the still points ultimate 5 is a total different league, very exspensive, better than the poly crystal footers, maybe one day I will have the ultimate 5 footers. |
Hi Bob, I have a vintage pair of JBL L-7 speakers with the Tara Labs Omega Jumpers on them and I own Poly crystal speaker spikes and still points speaker spikes I rotate from time to time to make the speaker cabinets inert alot better than what they were designed to be, They sound wonderfull!, I am sure I can get better, But at what crazy money are we talking about?, My speakers are 4-way, cross over at 900hz, and do 30hz to 27khz, My wife is into the audio nearly as much as I am, I believe she would use the cables that we own, I am with you on that, anything could happen, I hope she does not cut up the cables If I kick the ole bucket, LOL!, have you ever done any modds to your equipment before?, I am starting to get knee deep in doing so, for the money, The performance returns are very well worth it! |
I have herd a story when the husband died, the wife cut up the cables.Well, I hope that doesn't happen to us audiophiles. |
Yes.After trying the power cables yesterday,I have on hand, and reflecting on the PC from the past.I may go back to shunyata on the pre amp next.Just to know.Going from the ls 15 to the ref 5se,has been pleasure and pain for me.I still have the 6h30 Dr tubes to consider..for the pre. What speakers are you using Keith, are you happy with them. |
Misternice,I agree, If you got a sound your happy with, enjoy the music, But if you are anything like me, this audio nervesa disease of knowing, what if? gets the best of me sometimes, really everyone else that is an audiophile too! |
Hi there keith .im not sure what to do next.Ive got a pretty good sound coming out now.I should sit tight for a week. Play and listen.Sure I could easily spend another 5 or 6 k on power cables.I did come to Australia to save.Ive made huge gains this last week,no real sound stage to going up ,way past the ceiling.I cant rule out going a little crazy in the near future though. |
He is talking to himself:) |
You can't make this up folks. |
Misternice, Are you still considering getting the Tara Labs cobalt power cord? |
