Just this week I bought my first pair of Tannoy speakers: A used pair of Canterbury 15 - and I could not be more happy with them, love their sound and their looks as well.
Deciding between several Tannoy models being offered on the used market, but not having the possibility to listen and compare, my final decision for Canterburys was heavily influenced by multiple comments of @mulveling - so let me thank you for posting so many helpful comments.
Currently I use the Tannoys with Naim electronics: 552DR, 300DR, SuperLine+SuperCap, CD5XS+nDac+555ps and really like the presentation of the music. Might be looking into alternatives in the future, but don't feel the need right now, overall very enjoyable right now.
The seller of the speakers was not the first owner, so some questions were left unanswered and I was wondering if the wonderful Audiogon community could help me answer these questions:
The production year of the speakers is not clear. The serial numbers are 368XXX - any idea which year they were produced? Judging from the looks, they predate the SE/GR era. The front baffle plate just says "Canterbury 15".
And I have read that Canterbury cabinets come (came?) with a Variable Distributed Port System (VDPS). Could someone give me a hint how this is adjusted? From looking at the cabinets I can't see any obvious adjustment possibilities.
