Stand Recommendation

go to the home depot and buy you a cylinder with open inside the height you want...buy two pieces of woods the width and depth you need to stable the cylinder...screw the wood into the cylinder or glue..which i did...pour dry sand into the cylinder before adding the top piece of wood , get you some stain and you are in business..all at home depot....

good work, the spikes are at lowes too look in the hard ware and you will see the spikes that screw into the bottom

Two concrete blocks placed one on top of another, on end, make an extremely cheap and effective stand. If placed on carpet, cones underneath are helpful. Sonically, they are as good as anything! They can be spray painted whatever color you wish, but flat black is this audiophile's choice.

Related to Twb2s idea. Go to a store that sells yard statues and other concrete articles and buy 2 colloms. some are quite good looking and can be painted to match whatever you want. I had though I discovered this myself but I found someone from Italy had suggested it some time ago. Google concrete speaker stands.

for less then the cost of good stands, get the carbon floorstander.

"concrete blocks"? Might work if you're a guy living a 'frat house" or in your Mom's basement, but if you're married with children you're going to need something a little more refined (WAF friendly). Hopefully you weren't being serious with your suggestion, as it's so 1970's hippy burnout (and yes, back in my hippy days I had my speakers setting on top of some "concrete blocks"), and I doubt that nowadays anyone would "dare" put the "concrete block" speaker stands in their living/family room, unless they were going for that "'po white trash trailer park" look.

Fritz makes great stuff. Don't skimp on the stands. They act as part of the speaker and are instrumental in obtaining a good sound. IMO, find a pair of the 4-post Target MR stands and be done with it so you can really enjoy your new speakers.

The ones I recommended don't look bad. If you want to spend the money Skylan is very good.
