If you talk to a dealer you may find that you can get the KEF stands for less than list price.
Speaker stands for KEF R3 (something else than KEF stands)
I'm looking speaker stands for KEF R3's. I'm not going to buy KEF Performance Speaker Stands because for that price I except them to have four pre-drilled holes to match R3's holes drilled in the base. They do no match and the plate is smaller than it should.
Any advice where to look? Any R3 owners with stands?

Just happened to come across this discussion; way after the fact, but I will post anyhow. When I auditioned my R3's, they were mounted on Solidsteel SS-6 tripod stands, which I really liked...well, I liked the look of them. I replaced a previous pair of KEF's and just stuck with my original solid Late 90's Atacama SE24 stands (sand filled) and these remain perfect. Very substantial and heavy - still great. Exact same example here: http://www.whybuynew.co.uk/accessories/stands-accessories/speaker-stands/atacama-monitor-hi-fi-speaker-floor-stands.htm You can use four balls of Blu Tack for each corner, which is a very inexpensive isolation solution between the speaker cabinet and top of the stand...any stand. Holds them in place also. (Blu Tack is a secret weapon!) (I am in the UK [from the U.S.], but there are newer Atacama models <HSM1?> for example, that may be available in the States) At any rate, a good solid mass speaker stand is always best. There are a lot of great choices out there. |
