Sound quality of a Bryston BDA-1 vs the BDA-2 or BDA-3
Been happy with my Bryston BDA-1, but wondering if the BDA-2 or BDA-3 have improved sound quality over the BDA-1. Can any owners of Bryston BDAs share their listening experiences? I have no interest in DSD. (fyi - using a Bryston BDP-1 with cd library loaded on thumb drives)

I have the bda-3 but I bought it particularly for the DSD and have not heard the predecessors. From my reading of the forum and Greenhill's review in Stereophile, the 2 and 3 sound similar and the main difference is the HDMI. I also have the Mytek Manhatten, which is a clear step up from the BDA 3, and is going for around $3K used, and will play MQA. |
Went to Audiocircle and saw comment from James Tanner (Bryston engineer) that the SQ of 2 and 3 was same, although a few folks disagreed. Not sure I fully understand and appreciate MQA, DSD and HDMI capabilities. I have no SACD player or SACDs and have no desire to play video. However if DSD and MQA are game changers and available now or in future via downloads, I will have to reconsider. |

@rockyboy, there's a fellow named Pete, who just compared BDA-3 with his BDA-1: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=138471.msg1638053#msg1638053 |
