Sonus Faber Sonetto V v Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Concert Grand

I own a pair of Sonetto Vs, the original not the G2 model, and am looking to upgrade. I have seen a pair of used Vienna Acoustic Beethoven Concert Grand (not the Reference series) speakers for sale but because of distance I am unable to audition. I know that the VAs are in the similar sound spectrum as the SFs ie musical, which I prefer, rather than analytical (think B&W) but I am concerned it might be more of a sideways change rather than a significant upgrade. I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter. I am using VTL pre and power tube amplifiers.

Not very familiar with VA, but moving up the SF line would be an obvious choice and maybe less risky if you already like the SF house sound.  Other “musical” speakers that would be worth exploring are ProAc, Qln, Joseph Audio, Rockport, and DeVore among others.  Just some other ideas FWIW, and best of luck.

I have VA's and some older SF's so I don't think I can quite help you there since SF seems to have changed their sound signature a while back.  But, I can tell you that I'll probably never sell my VAs.  They just sound so good, (to me).

What finish are the Concert Grands in?
