Chadburr, only responding to bump this up since I have no experience with the Monitor line but would like to hear comparisons to what I have. I'm currently using the Soliloquy's 6.3's and they are staying for a long time. Sfar's description of the sound of the Soliloquy line is accurate. It sometimes poses a problem when I sit down to listen to some tunes for a little bit and 6 hours later I'm going to bed at 2 in the morning. They give you emotion, accuracy, a strong, tight bass and a good top end. both speakers have rear firing ports so they need room from the front wall. I'm currently running Purist cable for interconnect and speaker's. My previous speaker cables were MIT terminator 4 and they were a little bright on the top end. the change was dramatic. Thank you to all who introduced me to Purist cable. Enjoy the adventure. I just started mine. Will be posting my system soon.

I'm not sure this is useful since I don't have direct experience with that particular Monitor Audio model but, for what it's worth, I own Soliloquy 5.0's and previously owned Monitor Audio model 14's. I've auditioned the Soliloquy 5.3's and a couple of the Monitor Audio Studio series, similar in construction to the ones you're considering.

My impression is that these two speakers have very, very different characters and, whichever one you prefer, you certainly wouldn't have any problem hearing the difference.

The Soliloquy's soft-dome tweeter is warm, rich and smooth but still detailed, very involving and easy to listen to for a long period of time. The metal-dome tweeter used in Monitor Audio's speakers is extremely dynamic and detailed with a powerful presentation.

My personal preference, for the kind of music I listen to most often, is very strongly for the Soliloquy sound but what you prefer will depend on the kind of music that's important to you and the other gear you use. Since the differences between these two aren't subtle, I suspect you would like one much better than the other and the choice would be obvious if you listen to both.
