Shout out for Neil Young's Sugar Mountain Live LP

I ordered the Massey Hall from my local record shop, and found a nice copy of After the Gold Rush for $15.00 while rummaging through their bins. There is another live LP,
"Live in San Francisco at the Cow Palace" now available.
It's great to have the choices now available for live
Neil, but which to get first is another quandary.

Thanks Bongofury. I will check it out. There is also an older boot that is highly recommended in a Neil Young book which I am reading. I think it is called Rock & Roll Cowboy, but I will double check for sure. I know Cowboy is in the title though. Of course the likelihood of finding it on Vinyl may not be strong. I also am going only by this authors recommendation as far as sound quality.
BTW- I didn't notice the Harvest Moon sessions on ether MD or AS websites. Perhaps it is not out on vinyl.

Massey is the best of the four archival projects (The 1992 Harvest Moon sessions came out two months ago). Very intimate for a recording, a simple two track, but the vocals are incredible for that time period. Would highly recommend it in vinyl. Analogue is much better than the CD. Not impressed with Fillmore; rank it the third best of the four. Sounds more like a bootleg soundboard.

Thought it would be better to revive this thread rather than start a new one. Has anyone also heard his Fillmore east show, and how it would compare to Massey or Canterbury. I have MH on CD, and thinking of grabbing it on vinyl.
Any opinions on just the Fillmore on CD or vinyl would be appreciated.

You're talking about the Canterbury House release. I've lived in Ann Arbor environs my entire life, too bad I was just a kid when he recorded this. I have to get this cd!

I believe several weeks ago there was a news release that the Young archive release has been delayed yet again. Hopefully he's revisiting his decision to limit the release to BluRay. I bet you could could on one hand the audiophiles on this forum who use a BluRay player in a serious 2-CH music system.

How does this compare to "Live at Massey Hall"?

My understanding is that Neil Young has withheld many re-issues of older material on CD over the years because he is often not satisfied with the sound quality of many newer CD releases.

Young is a stickler for doing things the way he believes is right and I suspect this is a good omen for any new releases of remastered old material in his archives that comes out these days from an audio buff's perspective.

I'm looking very much forward to checking some of his new releases of old material out!

And the long awaited archives soon to follow; with a Jan 2009 release of a 10 disc set initially on blu ray discs.
