Rotel vs Denon?

I've just uncovered an item I bought several tears back - and then immediately stored it away. It's Devon HA 1000
new in-the-box.  I'm currently using a Rotel RQ 970BX as my pick-up preamp.
Question:  Are these comparable units, and if so, which stacks up as the better unit?
Kit : Audio Technica/ Pioneer 260 table, Oppo 95, resto Macs: M37 & MC 7270. Tannoy 12's coming.
What are your thoughts, please?

Anything with input transformers has my vote. :)

Owned the Rotel rib-1090 stereo amp w 700+w into 4 ohm.
amazing amp, power, sound, etc, all great, until the inrush limiter sent a white flash and a puff of smoke about 1 year into ownership!

 Would I buy another, yes, but the reliability was not good.

 One of the best stereo amps I’ve purchased, it’s a shame they only make low power stuff these days.
 She was a helluva amp!

 Wish I still had her, made my cerwin Vega.  D-9’s sing like no other amp!

The Rotel RQ 970BXis is a cartridge preamp, not a line amp.
