Revel Concerta2 F36 and the like....

So I decided to finally set up a Hi-Fi system in my house.   I haven't bought a piece of audio equipment in 20+ years.   Made the decision that I wasn't going to use my 24 year old Paradigm Mini-Monitors for the purpose so I was off to listen to some speakers.  Knowing that esthetics were going to be as important as sound for the system (gotta keep my bride smiling) here was my opinions.

Went to BB Magnolia to kill time.

Lisstened to the B&W 600 and 700 series towers.  Don't mean to offend but can't understand who would buy these.  I know speakers are like music...you know what speaks to you.  These didn't.

Also checked out the KEF qf-550 and LS50meta's.   Decent speakers.  Wasn't for me ... but beautiful to look at.  The meta's especially I can see why they are so popular.  If I was looking for bookshelves they would've garnered serious consideration.

Next stop was a local audio dealer to hear the two sets I really wanted to hear.

Paradigm Premier 700f --- Loved them.  Clean sound, great separation of sound.  Clean highs, pronounced mids, and clean lows.  24 years ago I went to buy some mission bookshelves and ended up leaving with Paradigm after a sound test.  I thought for sure it was going to happen again.  Not only did I love the sound...but I really like the style of this speaker and knew it would look great in the living room.

Last chance saloon...the Revel Concerta2 F36.  WOW!  I was actually blown away by this speaker.  While the separation wasn't as good as the Paradigm this was really an amazing speaker.  After double checking the separation isn't surprising...a 2.5 way vs. 3 way design.   However the clarity was amazing.  The thing that really got me was the soundstage.  With my eyes closed I couldn't tell where the music was coming from.  I'll be listening to a lot of live vinyl..it's going to sound like a concert in my living room.

So I've ordered and have incoming for my hi-fi setup.

Willsenton r8 amp.
Revel Concerta2 F36 speakers (white)
Rel t-7x subwoofer.
Rega Planar 3 turntable.
Schiit Mani tt pre-amp.

Also thank you to the community for all the information you provide the guys like me.

Good ear. While I have not heard those exact models I have owned B&W, Paradigm and currently own Revels (demoed kefs). Revel as a whole is more neutral than the other two. Make sure you spend time getting the subs just right.
I don't mind recommending revels for ht but for 2 channel I might pick others. What matters is you're happy with them.

Will be used mostly for listening to music/podcasts while I work. I will not be getting a sub right now since I'm in an apartment so that is something to keep in mind.Appvalley

I enjoy nice aesthetics so if they look nice or come in a color other than black, that is a plus for me.Tweakbox

Steve,

In a perfect world I actually agree with you 100%.  As I actually thought the Paradigms sounded "better".   Going into a 13/33 room...and the fact I'll listen to a lot of live music...the soundstage of the Rev is what sold me.  That said even as the buyer...I don't really disagree with your point.

In a better world, I agree with you 100%. Paradigms seem to be "better" than I really thought. Going to a 13/33 room ... and the fact that I would listen to a lot of live music ... Rio's sound stage sold me out. He also said as a buyer ... I really don't agree with you.

Looks like a nice assembly of well spoken of gear you’ve chosen. Keep up informed when completed. And post your system in 'virtual systems'.
