Replacing tweeter in old Advent speaker?

Do I have to replace the crossover if I replace the exsisting tweeter with a "softdome tweeter"?

If the efficiency differs, it will play either louder or softer than the original tweeter, thus affecting the overall frequency balance and character of the speaker. I assume that if you're changing to a different tweeter type you would be changing both tweeters in the stereo pair.

The tweeters were always going on these beasts. I used to put a inline fuse to the speaker input. I can't remember the amp rating though. Most likely a 1 or 2 amp.
